wax dust/residue?

i noticed today how much dust/residue stuff is left over on my car after waxing it. no wax is really left on the paint but the dusty residue stuff is still there no matter how many times i go over it witha mf towel. i think tomorrow im going to just hose it down with some water then maybe go pick up a bottle of qd and hope that takes care of the problem. anyone have any suggestions ?
 
maybe u used too much product. it created a thick haze that the towel couldnt catch all of it... use thin layers...its not like the paint abosrbs the wax thru the paint... whatever wax u put on sticks to it, anything u see and then wipe off was just wax u didnt use... so keep it thin so u dont wipe too much unused product. when u wipe try to use the absorbent side of the microfiber... there should be like a smoother side and then a lil more plusher side... use that one...

but keep in mind also, some waxes dust more than others...
 
Today when I detailed my moms new RL, I follwed up my LSP with Poorboys Spray and Gloss. Being that it's a black car I could see wax dust left over really easily. Even though it was dark when I finished, it turned out great. :bigups
 
I don't think that you did anything wrong. Remember that the car is made out of steel and the rubbing action when removing the wax or using a qd sometimes causes static electricity (especially on a low humidity day). I know that cars are supposed to be grounded to the chassis and tires but it doesn't seem to really work in the real world from personal experience. I usually do a final wipe down with a clean, water dampened cotton or MF towel. It also seems to improve the gloss.

:yeah Following up with a quick detailer will collect the leftover dust and often lessen or eliminate the effect of static electricity

How does the QD affect the bonding of your LSP? Nattys is usually my LSP which has anti-static properties to it. I usually wait 24 hours before touching the surface after any lsp.

Natty's was my LSP also. I did the S&G really lightly-I don't think it'll do anything bad. I think it just improved on the shine.

PS: I'm starting a thread with pics in a minute. :cool
 
Try Meguiars NXT Generation Liguid Tech wax next time. You'll be amazed. It dries clear. Absolutely NO wax dust or dried wax residue to deal with.
