wax and Z8

Ladies and Gentlemen,



... have been lurking around for a while and have learned a lot from you pros... thank you... but now I have a question: Can I use Pennacle Souveran wax and topped it off with Z8? Any bonding issues that I should be aware of? Curing time? Thank you all in advance...

No issues at all. Have read over at detailers world where many "high end" waxes are being topped with Z8.
 
My experience has been that a fresh coat of PS, a hot day and Z8 don’t mix well some of time. You will end of with a smeared mess that even washing doesn’t solve, you will do to do a IPA wipe down and fresh coat of PS. What I do now is put a couple of coats of PS then us Crystal Mist as a QD and Spray PS wax at every wash that will last the entire car show season of about 6 months (also 1500 to 2000 miles of driving) before adding more PS. I feel that Z8 takes away from the PS look so if you want to use Z8 as finial spray wax probably Z5 or Z2 would be a better choice than PS. Just my thoughts.
 
Z8 should always be used on cool paint.



Bret used some Z8 over a coat of Lusso wax on the 36 cord we did the other week. The client thought it looked better after the Z8.

Half of the street rod club has switched from NXT to Turtle Wax Ice with their high dollar customs that doesn’t mean that it looks the best at least in my eyes.



I never understood the reasoning of putting a sealant over a wax. I can understand the reasoning of putting a sealant under a wax. So you stated that putting a sealant over a wax change the look of the wax – I guess I like the look of the wax then without the sealant since it changes the look and I like the look of the wax better than sealants.



I do use Z5Pro and Z8 on my new 2008 Corvette (Crystal red metallic tint coat, which is a dark red) and it looks good, the only thing that looks slightly better in my eyes is RMG – VW (Better than PS) but since my Vette is just a daily driver I don’t want to mess with the up keep of RMG - VW.
 
I love Z8, but on Souveran, I really think Crystal Mist looks better - deeper, glossier, and adds more of that 3d look.
 
I used Z8 over a wax last week it looks good but I doubt that it will last as long as what it would have over a Zaino base.
