watery megs #81??

I just ordered a 32 oz bottle of megs #81 hand polish and I am very surprised by its consistency. Even after shaking and shaking, it is completely liquid. It literally pours out of the bottle like water.. Except it's oil that's really hard to wash off my hands. Is this normal?! I've never seen any product do this before.

Actually i just tried squeezing a larger volumeof my #81 into a plastic test tube. An olive-colored polish is present, but there is a clear layer of oil that separates on top almost immediately, about 3mm thick.. When I first poured, I guess I got mostly the clear oil coming out.. Still, this seems like a lot of oil, even for what is supposed to be a glaze..

Unlikely as it seems given your location, it sounds like it may have been frozen. Many products will separate when frozen and the emulsifiers don't seem to allow the ingredients to recombine. Anytime I let it happen to me, the product was trashed.

Hmm, it was shipped from premiumautocare.com, via ups ground. It might've froze along the way somewhere..

If you purchased it at PAC, give Dwayne a call.

Florida to California doesn't seem like much of a cold stretch this time of year. Doesn't seem like it would be in the mountains long enough to freeze.

#81 is a thin product compared to #83 for example, but it shouldn't be completely watery either. Sounds like something is wrong with the bottle you got.

That is definitely NOT normal for #81. If it does seperate and you can't get it to mix back up after shaking or it quickly seperates again after shaking then it defintely has been frozen at some point. I just had the same problem with two bottles I bought from a local store. Took them both back, got a refund and ordered directly from Meguiars.

Since the bottles are sealed and most places won't let you remove the seal just to check to contents you have to wait until you get it home to find out if it is bad. If there was a way to visually inspect it before purchase it would make things easier for all of us.

Would be nice if all of these products had a clear window in them so that you could see the product inside. The whole bottle doesn't have to be clear but, if just enough of it was clear so that you could see if it is seperated that would be most helpful. Maybe something like a vertical strip down the back or the side of the bottle that is clear?
