Waterspots

The car I recently obtained has some serious water spots on it. The paint is "new"...let's call it a $599 Earl Schieb (for anyone who's familiar with that shop) job done about 8 months ago.. nice paint job, but kind of dull in some spots and I just can't use enough elbow grease to get the spots off. The undercolor was not primered and I don't think the previous owner took good care of it after it was done.

Anyways, what can I use to bring back some shine & luster and to get rid of the spots? I have some Meguiars cleaner wax, then polisher but haven't used them yet. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Sarah,

You may be surprised to find that the Meguiar's Cleaner Wax may actually have enough cleaning power to help bring back some of the shine. Since you already have the cleaner wax, it would definitely be worth trying.

frank, good answer

(it just seemed really polite)

sarah, if you find, what you got doesn't work a good over the counter product (think NAPA auto parts or any autoparts store) is the cleaner wax made by 3M.

As for internet buying of wax, many people here can give you many different suggestions, if you like.

I believe the one being referred to here is the 3M Medium Oxidation Remover Wax. Do a search on this, as I think it's still sold under the old name of Finish Restorer at Wal-Mart.

If milder methods don't work (try them first) a moderate strength product like a Fine Cut product or DACP will also work.

Nice to see another .org member here, as Prinz said. :wavey I go under a different name there and I'm not as active anymore in case you're wondering, but you might find me in the Detailing sub-forum. ;)

Hi There :wavey Kinda funny to run into ppl from other websites where you least expect it. Is Prinz on this site too?....or are you just quoting him?

Im rarely on the .org as well. The mood there has changed and it's not really my crowd anymore. To many people getting stupid.

What name did you use there?

Sarah-

ColorX seems to take care of water marks/oxidation (depends upon how bad they are. But it can be applied by hand.

Hope this helps
