Waterspots

Many seem to have problems with waterspots here. When is sitting water on a paintsurface a problem? Is it only with hard water or if the car is in the sun and the waterminerals "burn" into the paint? I have never had waterspots that a normal wash couldn't remove. But I guess the water here is quite soft.

Sometimes in the winter I just hose the worst stuff of the paint and leave it wet.
 
i haven't had many issues w/ water spots...but did once when washing a black vehicle in the sun. i missed a few spots while drying on the roof and the marks were baked in terribly...learned my lesson that day. :)
