Waterspots on my car - lost cause?

Hi,

I have a white 2000 Mustang GT that I got about a year ago. The car only had 26k miles on it, so it was obviously not being driven a lot. The downside of that, is that the car was just sitting unprotected somewhere outside for probably what became weeks in rain, snow, etc. The result - DEEP waterspots on all horizontal surfaces. Some of the are so deep that I can feel them with my nail. At first I thought nothing a couple passes with Propel Orange and SSR 2.5 won't fix, but I was wrong :( Here is a pic after those passes (look at the lighted up areas):

They're pretty hard to see on a white car, but once you look at them at an angle with artificial light, they're pretty visible. You guys think anything could be done about them or is it a lost cause? Thanks.

Hey whitestang I have similar problems on my hood scoop on my stang.

I'm really interested if someone with experience with these decontamination systems will chime in and say if they do what they claim and can take care of a problem like this.

I know sometimes it has already done its damge and their is nothing you can do but live with it. Mine can only be seen under halogens/flouros. Direct sunlight you would never knew they were there. Nice job getting that shot on white:xyxthumbs

Thanks.

Yea, I think it would be hard to take them out since they're etched so deep into the clear coat. I don't see how anything, except for sanding down the clear coat would actually help :(

I still have a few combos to try on mine and maybe lessen them but I'm pretty sure mine are gonna be pemanent, other than wetsanding and I'm definetly not tackling that, a rotary possibly.

Sucks but thats what happens with daily drivers:(

You can try a distilled vinigar wash. Apply to one panel at a time wait 30sec- 1minute then rinse off. Wash the car again with shampoo. Then clay and polish again. It might not take out the etching, but get rid of the deposits. I find AIO removes lots of the calcium deposits too.

Thanks for replies.

I'm mainly trying to get rid of the etching. There are no deposits, or I can't see them, since it a white car... It's the etchings that bother me the most.

I like how on FK's site it's implied that claying removes clearcoat

States that clay won't remove all contaminants. I disagree

The decontamination system has sulfuric acid in it, what's the point of having a contaminant in a decontamination kit

As if there polymer sealant is going to stop industrial fallout.
