Waterless Wash and Tires...

Although it goes against EVERYTHING I have learned about washing cars - I`m thinking I`m FINALLY going to jump into waterless wash world. I`m going to start w a few You Tube videos. For those of you that might have some good links to help w my learning curve...please pass them on.

I have a question in terms of washing the tires and wheels...basically - how do you do it w a waterless wash? When I wash my tires I use a pretty heavy duty cleaner and a stiff brush - the tires then need to rinsed down pretty well. Also, on the wheels - I use several brushes and a wheel cleaner. How do you properly clean the wheels - especially the barrels - with a waterless wash??

Again - although I have been detailing as a hobby for years - the waterless wash will be a whole new world for me. I am just so sick of dragging out the hose every time I need to wash my car.
 
It is so easy if you can find this or something similar. It is worth it`s weight in gold to me. Mothers Back-To-Black Tire Renew Outside of that, I will use the same cleaner as if it was a regular wash, but I keep my waterless in a 1.5 gallon garden sprayer, so I just use it to rinse the tires. I will say that I would only use this method with something cost effective because you use a good bit of product. I typically use the now discontinued meguiars 114.
 
I feel your struggle, I am working on getting my system down as well and when I do rinseless,i may spray the tire with a rubber cleaner and scrub as normal, get a towel soaked in water and wipe down the tire as I gently squeeze the towel ,which then helps rinse the dirt away.

You can also carry a pump sprayer full of water and use that to rinse, then do your final wipe down with a dry towel. Griots makes a rubber cleaner that works as a wipe on and wipe off product, I would recommend that. I bought it after someone here recommended it to me and it works well. Mothers also sells a similar product that you spray on,let dwell then wipe off.

Wheels - I approach in a similar way as tires so far. Spray product,agitate/clean, rinse off with sprayer or water soaked towel then dry.

I`m no pro when it comes to waterless so I`m hoping someone with much more experience can share their method. What I`m currently doing has worked for me pretty well so far but I also usually carry a 3gallon bucket and dump a gallon of water in it to keep my tools wet and rinsed.
 
Use the left over rinseless with 4 garbage micros and wipe one micro per tire.

Poorboys bold n bright has cleaner in it as well
 
Eh, I can`t help as I basically don`t do rinseless/waterless, just not viable nor necessary in my situation, but...

That`s their Rubber Prep, which I suspect would get pricey if used regularly. Great stuff though, very effective and user-friendly.
 
Yes,definitely pricey, which is why i only use it as a "just in case" product. My first option when doing jobs and cleaning tires are Megs APC,and if it`s filthy, i`ll start with one session of the Griots Rubber cleaner(less cost than rubber PREP) then finish with APC as an additional pass/session.

Mothers` spray product seems to perform well, i recently transferred it to a sprayer bottle that works and i`ll play with it some more to see if it can be a more affordable alternative than Griot`s Rubber Cleaner, and keep rubber prep as back up.
 
Migue- Yeah, I`m still using GG Rubber Cleaner...sure is gentle though, like "barely hurts the dirt"-gentle! Eh, I`m just not all that Autopian about my tires..."look OK? Good enough, my life`s not a Car Show.."

The Mother`s seems very popular, can`t recall anybody not liking it.

And I do think that the GG Rubber Prep is something every detailer oughta have on the shelf, along with 3M Adhesive Remover.
 
I usually only do a WW when the vehicle isn`t very dirty. That being said I really really really love the Eco Touch wheel cleaner. It`s made to be used without water. If you wash said vehicle once and deep clean then coat/seal the wheels it will make your WW life much easier!!!
