waterless carpet cleaner/shampoo?

Is there a carpet shampoo out there where I can spray it on scrub and blot off with a dry or damp cloth and get close to the same results as using a shop vac? It has to be otc and not have an overpowering fragrance. I want to clean the interior of my dad's van someday and the steam cleaner is in the storage unit and I don't feel like lugging it back and forth since it takes a lot of space. Any suggestions are appreciated and it doesn't have to be limited to stuff sold at the auto depts. can include household cleaners as long as it is safe.

I just picked up some folex at target that is supposed to be like that. I'm looking forward to trying it. Why no shop vac? You'll need to vac it out first no matter what you use.

The Prestone foaming cleaner in the red can is pretty decent. Its got a bit of an industrial smell, but its a great deoderizer. It's good for getting out sand, etc, but for real bad stains I'd pretreat it with Folex. Folex is great on stains, but conversely is pretty weak on ground-in sand, odors, etc.

FOLEX from Home Depot (in the flooring section, that's where they keep all the good stuff!) It's a very good cleaner that does NOT require rinsing and has virtually no odor. It's enzyme-based.

I haven't found a product yet, to this day that will do what Folex will do. I have gone through about 4 gallons since I discovered this stuff.

To give you an idea of what it can do...

1) A black pen exploded on my gf's and my white comforter. We had no time to treat it so it sat and dried for 2 weeks. We sprayed a generous amount of Folex on it to pretreat and watched the ink almost disappear after a few minutes. We repeated and through in the wash. You would NEVER know the stain was there.

2) Same use as above, but with red wine on a blouse.

Have you tried Shout stain remover? The stuff made for getting stains out of clothes.

My mother is a big fan...although if Folex is better, maybe I should buy her a bottle :).
