(^&%*(%$ Water Spots!

I think David answered everyone's possible concerns, if you didn't get it, I'm sure he'd answer any PM's. And the old "it softens paint" yada yada - how friggin long do you honestly think I or anyone else let it sit on paint surface before washing it off? Do YOU have any proof of this or are you just parroting some company's advertisement. Honestly you are starting to piss me off, I try to share a tip and I get this crap.

Yeesh. With respect, you haven't read properly. I have posed an important general question with regards to acidic paint cleaners. I know everything David says but that is generic Google info that doesn't answer the question. Oxalic acid is frowned on but phosphoric is used in this product and no questions are asked. Why is phosphoric not accepted for fallout removal (it would work, it would be cheap and could be highly diluted)? Is there actually info about the harm caused by certain products of is this all yet another example of detailers, with limited chemical expertise, jumping onto the bandwagon?

To further clarify, I have not said that eraser or phosphoric acid is bad. What I can say for fact is that you retailers refuse to use phosphoric acid for wheel cleaning, except for extreme circumstances. As a rule, PPC finishes are extremely resilient so if phosphoric is safe on paint, why do retailers insist on avoiding it for their wheels? It doesn't quite add up and it is this discrepancy I am addressing. My conclusion is that no one can actually answer this.

FYI I am posting solid chemical arguments based on years of experience as a chemist and formulator. It is possible you may even have used products which were custom manufactured by us.

What difference does it make what acid or ingredient is in the product. The "danger" or any issues will be based on concentration of the ingredient.

It makes all the difference in the world - that is the chemistry. If that was not the case, you lot would be buying brick acid and just diluting it differently for cleaning wheels, removing fallout, removing water spots, descaling your kettle (etc.). It is no different to solvents - 20% IPA may well be safe, but 20% NMP will often strip paint.

I am not going to go any further, I think it is clear that this is not the correct forum for these discussions so I apologise for my diversions.

Maybe YOU didn't read properly - I posted a little tip about removing waterspots using a product 3D sells and I was rather pleased with. If you have a concern with the product. what's in it or otherwise, then kindly PM Ben with 3D, if he can't answer I'm sure they have someone that can. If you're through hi-jacking my thread to hear yourself then good, maybe others can post with questions or stories of their experience with Eraser.

Speaking of which, just had a customer e-mail these pictures. He had nasty water spots throughout his entire vehicle. He's was a total new and was scared to do anything overly aggressive. Prescribed him to use 3D Eraser, then followed up with HD Speed and it was a winner.

Doesn't look like those 'big bad' chemicals did too much harm to the paint then? ;)

Vehicle detail looks great (as always)

Yeah Jon, looks like they worked like they were supposed too - holy smokes - it's a miracle...seriously, I hate this thread got so off track and I'm grateful for your and David's support. I will say, that even though Eraser works really well, I'd just as soon just polish out oxidation and swirls! I had a Fuson and Shelby Cobra this past weekend, both spotted up like a teenager with acne, and I got them clean and clear. I think their owners have decided to let me wash their cars from now on. Next weekend, it's big 3/4 ton trucks with mud! O boy!
