Water spot problem - DG501 solution?

Hi guys,

I'm sorry to start another water spot thread, but there are a few questions that I haven't been able to answer through searching. I could use some help from the experts!

I have a grey '09 bmw. It was fully detailed a few weeks ago (clayed, polished, and sealed with a synthetic sealant my guy said would last a year +). On top of that, I do washes with ONR at least once a month, and add a coat of OCW every time I wash. I washed and waxed my car this past weekend. Yesterday, it rained a little on my way to work, and my car may have gotten dripped on in the parking garage at work. When I got home, I noticed one or two white water spots on the hood. I wiped them gently with HD Free waterless wash and a plush MF. That removed the white residue, but left very very faint rings behind. It's frustrating because you'd think that the LSPs would keep stubborn spots from forming in less than 12 hours. Now I'm just trying to figure out what to do.

Here are my questions: I know from reading here that people use clay, vinegar/water, or AIO to remove water spots. Which is best? Will any of these options be effective without removing my long-term LSP? If not, shouldn't I just use DG501? Its cleaners should be just as strong as vinegar(?), it has mild abrasives for a tiny bit of correction, and it leaves durable protection after, right? Is it ok to use DG501 on a small spot without re-doing the whole panel?

Thanks!

Update:

I tried DG501, which really minimized the spots further, but they're still there. I can't believe fresh synthetic sealant plus wax allowed this kind of etching in less than a day. I guess I'll try Scratch-X next? I don't have a buffer, so can only use products that can be applied by hand. Maybe I'll tell my detailer to use a different LSP next time--water spot protection is all I really need from a sealant.

How about some light polish (by hand via MF) and then reseal? Sounds like some contaminants from the parking garage might have caused this due to it being isloated to just a few spots. Rain usually won't do that.
