Water Pressure

I have a tank and i have a pressure washer and i need a little more pressure from the tank to the pw......what is the best way to go about this?
 
You've got 2 options. Raise the tank and use the largest hoses and fittings possible to run from the tank to the PW. Notice how i have mine setup in the photo. Or buy a gear driven pump. That allows your pw to pull the water rather than let gravity take care of it. i'm running a gear driven pump.

just a note some pressure washer especially the lower end or near lower end price range/qualtiy are not intended to draw/pump water, i would assume a water pump or something like that to produce consistant psi ....
 
do you think you guys could send me a link for these 65 70 dollar pumps......for some reason i am having a tough time searching on the internet....thanks
 
I have a Craftsman PW (I paid likt $300) it seems to work fine but I think the key is to have the largest water supply going to it that you can. Now with that said I have to make sure that I have water in the pump too or it just doesn't work so I have to prime the pump so to say. Once I get that then she runs like a champ. Now the big problem I have is I have to shut the PW off all the time so I don't run it too long while not using it. The solution next year is to upgrade to a PW that is designed for this kind of business. This meaning that the next one will be gear driven and have a by-pass that allows the water to recycle back to the tank which keeps the pump from overheating. With this feature you can run pw the whole time.

If you are using a good size hose and the shortest length you can manage then a pump may be in order. The Shurflo pumps work well. If your Pw is over 3gpm it can get expensive for the higher output 12v pumps. Flojet (available at Northern tool) has one rate 5gpm if I recall for $109.
