Water only wash

Dream Machines
Decided to try a demineralised and filtered water (from kitchen) wash of my AU Falcon. Since i had just cleaned, glazed and waxed very recently. Gave the car a very thorough rinse with high pressure sprayer machine. Cleaned the wheel arches and alloy wheels with Omikron Super Gloss which contains polymer wax and then washed the body with the water with superb results. Ultra easy and the car responded with most panels drying mark free before i had gone all around with a new perforated chamois pre soaked in super gloss. Finished off with my ultra smooth bath towel, drying and removing door seals and drying in the channel that they sit and in boot and underbonnet. Someone once told me that soft rainwater or demineralised water made for a brilliant and easy wash.

So in future i will be washing this way.

It does sound like an easy way to go about it, however if there is dirt/grime I would think a shampoo would be in order. DI water dosen't contain, well much of anything. The surfactants in the soap are not only what breaks the grime down they also lubricate it so as not to scratch the paint when being washed away.

just my .02 here late at night

:)

soft rainwater

Whats that ?,as opposed to regular rain.....

Ive been using just high pressure at the local car wash for years, havent had soap on my cars surface for ions ! If it get something that high pressure wont remove, I get out the bug and tar stuff, then rewax that very small area......You actually remove the door seals ? Have you tried air pressure ?

I think he means "soft" rainwater as opposed to acid rainwater, which we have been having an abundant amount of in NJ...
