Washington DC area store to purchase Makita 9227 or other buffer & accessories?

Hi,

This is my first post here.

Tomorrow morning I need to purchase a Makita 9227 or similar quality buffer, pads, etc. I'm in the Washington, DC area. I've been calling Home Depots and hardware stores and have had no luck. Do no one stock this sort of thing. I know I can purchase through this site and others, but again, I need it tomorrow.

I just realized I must get my 32' sailboat boat launched on Saturday. I'm taking tomorrow and Friday off to do a serious cleaning, compounding, waxing and polishing.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Call Christopher's Hardware in Glen Echo. That's where I buy my Makita stuff and they usually have a lot in stock with fair prices.

Search for other makita retailers here: Makita - Where To Buy. Fastenal has a number of local branches in the DC area you could call to see if they carry the buffer or the sander version.

I have seen the RIDGID R2611 buffer/sander in the home depot in Springfield. It is a reasonable alternative DA polisher. You might find a Milwaukee rotary there too. I've also the the Vector rotary for sale at the Pep Boys in Annandale.

Polishing supplies can be found at Carquest stores and Walmarts. The closest Walmart in Kingstowne doesn't have much in polishes and pads but carquest, autozone and pep boys might have those. Carquest usually has Duragloss, 3M and Meguiars in stock. There's a Harbor Freight in Woodbridge that might carry a sander which could serve as a polisher. Call first before you start travelling around.

One local place that seems to have everything is Fischers Hardware in Springfield. I haven't tried them for detailing supplies but they've never let me down in other oddball quests for hardware.

I can't guarantee you'll find everything you need. I get most of my good supplies off the internet.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have already tried Makita's "Where To Buy" web feature, though. The problem is that the vast majority of the stores that it returns don't stock the 9227c or any higher end buffer (just the cheaper sander/buffers).

I was hoping that there might be a detailing supply type of store, or an auto supplies stores with a good selection of these types of products.

Thanks for the tips. I'm calling around this morning.

I had already tried Makita's "Where To Buy" link. Most the the stores that it shows, though, only carry a small number of Makita products. Even big stores like Home Depot don't seem to stock higher end buffers like the 9227c (been to one and called three).

I had been hoping that there might be some detailing specialty stores that carry this stuff, or maybe auto supply stores that specialize in it.

Thanks again.
