Washing my towels

So my general towel maintenance has been wash them together with nothing else in cold water with a low tumble and a small amount of laundry detergent. I then let them air dry. I figured I should ask the pros to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong.. Feedback please.
 
i use hot water and APC to break down all the oil and junk from the towels...I doubt cold water is going to work as effectively.



On the other hand, I go through my towels more rapidly tossing them out after every 5th car or so anyway
 
when I wash them they come out with all the microfiber in clumps and then I am able to separate the clumps after it drys to bring it pretty close to back to original softness.. Is this normal?
 
ironexecutioner- Hmmm...it doesn't sounds really weird or anything, but depending which washing machine I use mine usually come out "perfectly OK" by the time I take them out of the drier.



I wonder if you're doing enough rinses :think:



Oh, and I too wash mine on hot, with warm rinses.

I put mine on delicate and run it for no more than 20 minutes. I go a little

past the damp dry on the timer. I'm still looking for what wash to use.

I have the Target brand of Woolite and have been trying that.
 
I wash mine on hot with warm a rinse also. I do a second rinse and add about 1/3 cup of vinegar. I dry them on low heat, as previously stated no fabric softner, and they come out fine for me.
 
junk towels for grunge work get tossed in with hot water and laundry soap . . . . . good towels for windows, wax removal, polishing removal, qd's etc . . . . . usually get soaked if they are really dirty with a tiny bit of apc or laundry soap, then washed with laundry soap . . . . . every couple of washes i will use a microfiber wash and i always air dry the good towels, never in the dryer.
