I just recently got a PC and have been in the business of keeping my car and my family's cars all clean and tidy... but still have some noob frustrations to figure out. Can anyone help answer a few questions?

1) Cleaning MF towels - its seems that after the first time i've used them, they all have some sort of dirt or grease streak across them somewhere. I usually put them in the wash all together, with nothing else, and don't know what else to do. I know that you can purchase MF towel cleaner and such.. but I live in Canada and its pretty hard to come by any of this stuff without ordering it. Can anyone recommend anything to do or any regular store product to use?

2) Cleaning PC pads - I've only used my PC once because of the residue that was left behind on my pads even after hand washing them. I used Sonus SFX 1 and 3 on my car and no all of the pads are either died blue or white. What do you regularly do to wash/dry your pads? Once again, regular store products? or any products at all?

3) Drying the car - After I'm done washing and rinsing, I have a Sonus WW towel to try my car, but there's so much water left on my car that the towel is soaked before I'm half done (... and its a Civic hatchback...). Is this my bad? or the towel? Would you suggest just getting another towel and using them both? or are there other betters ones (I'd have to order... :P)?

try dawn power dissolver for your pads...and use woolite for the microfiber towels...they are decent otc solutions to cleaning detailing pads and towels...just make sure you rinse out very thoroughly...

1) I just use normal laundry soap solution that doesn't have any softeners in it.

2) I clean my PC pads with a mixture of water and Dawn soap.

3) If you remove the nozzle from your hose, you can "sheet" most of the water from the surface your car and finish up with the WW you have. Although, it's suggested you have multiple MFs and WWs. :dance

Enjoy!

Hmm. I have been using regular laundry detergent and it hasn't helped. I do have multiple mfs but the only one that seems to dry anything is the MF. I'll go try and pick up some dawn. What about drying your pads?

The pads are soaking in a bucket with Dawn whilst doing other things, then each one comes out for a couple of squeezes of Dawn/rinse til they feel clean and rinse clear. Then I lean them vertically in the dry side of the sink for a day or two until putting them away. The wax pad typically takes a few extra cycles. All of my pads are labeled on the sides with a black marker so each pad just gets used with one product.

I hand wash my mf's in a bucket with Woolite, usually two cycles with the soap then three rinses before hanging up to dry. They don't always stay perfect looking, but seem to stay effective as they slowly begin their downward journey toward engine detailing...

Some folks love 'em, some would never, but I use a California Water Blade to get 90% of the water off first.

thanks dpsorq. That's the kind of process I was looking for. I'm for sure gonna pick up some dawn and woolite now and give it a try.
