Wash Mitts

I'll throw my $0.02 in about CMA MF wash mits...

I've got two of the smaller version (blue) and have been using them for about 6 months. First observation is that the MF's don't hold a lot of water or suds. They seem to "drag" more along the surface as you're wiping due to increased friction. Don't get me wrong, they work great and I haven't noticed any mitt-related scratches yet.

I bought them after reading a fellow VW owner describe how the mitt actually picks up lint around the "felt-like" VW sunroof seals. Sure enough, works like a charm!

I still use the Viking wash mitts. I know they aren't 100% cotton, but I haven't noticed any marring or scratches. I don't press hard though--I just let the weight of the wet soapy mitt do the work. They are also so cheap that replacing them when they get too dirty is not a big deal to me.

The CMA microfiber mitt is so damn expensive that if it got too dirty I can't afford to keep replacing them.

If there is one bad thing about the Viking wash mitt is that it loses alot of fiber in the wash and tends to fall apart. If you don't mind the "cuff" falling off it isn't that big a deal.

The new 100% Cotton chenille mitts that CMA has look nice (and large)! They are 100% cotton, aren't they? :nixweiss

I thought someone said they had done the burn test on a Viking cotton mitt from autozone and found that it wasn't 100%. However, they thought they used to be. I haven't tried myself but the pile has always felt nice and fluffy to me so I've never worried and never had any problems.

Viking stopped shipping 100% cotton mitts to stores like Autozone, ect. Instead they use a blend because it is cheaper for them to manufacture. If SL is correct, and I bet he is, I would guess that CMA orders a large enough quantity to make it worth Vikings while to do a 100% cotton run.

...and they said their cotton chenille wash mitts are:

"They are a blend. 95% cotton and 5% poly."

So, there you have it.

I can live with those numbers based upon how well the wash mitts are surviving!
