Hello. I guess this is my first 'real' post after being a lurker for, well, years(?).
Now that it's finally warming up in my part of the world, the QEW has gone into the closet and the car soap has come out.
I used up the last of my P21S car soap last weekend (used Meg's GC prior), so it was time to try a new product I picked up from a local distributer. I used PROwax's C-19 Cherry Suds for the first time. My overall impression of the product is that I like it. It's not quite as sudsy as the P21S but I feel that it has more of lubricant feel to it, which in my opinion is a good thing. It smells a bit like cherry kool-aid, which isn't a bad thing. If there is a negative to it, imo, it's that it's very thick and seemed a little harder to measure out into my bucket. But for roughly $10/gallon, and can be purchased locally, I give it a thumbs up!
After reading about all the trouble finding a good cotton chenille wash mitt, and myself having trouble finding anything decent locally, I found a local 'enthousiast' shop that sells 100% cotton mitts made by S.M.Arnold (http://www.smarnold.com/). Did the 'burn' test and both I and the girlfriend determined it true cotton. Cool. After using it I must say it might be the best mitt I have tried. Size is 6x10, the chenille is very thick, felt very luxurious and absolutely no shedding. Price I paid was $5/per. I used to use the Viking 100% cotton mitt before they disappeared from all the auto parts stores. I recently tried the Turtle Wax 'cotton' chenille mitt which was a down right P.O.S. imho.
Thumbs up!
Lastly, since the car I washed today is going in for some 'open heart surgery' later this week, I wanted to clean up the engine bay. Much winter grease and grime had built up over the months and I was anxious to try my new degreaser. I tried PROwax's C-51 Red Devil. It's a very strong degreaser that is water activated. All I can say is that it worked very well. I used it mainly on the extremely dirty areas such as the lower engine block. With no scrubing all the grease and grime disappeared.
For the last few years I have been using EFHI, which is also a great product with so many uses. But without a doubt the C-51 worked better on the extremely grimey areas. I will continue to use my EFHI on my wheels and various other areas. Like I stated it also a great product!
I have a list of other new products to try things spring and I can't wait! Hopefully you guys won't mind hearing my opinions on them in the coming months.
Thanks for reading and best regards.
