Which Lowes bucket did you try? I know they have more than 1 kind of 5 gal. bucket as you can take your pick from a regular one and the semi-translucent one with the padded handle. My grit guard fits perfect with the latter. I've always thought most 5 gal buckets were standard sizes?

I only see one bucket that they sell at lowes. Can you show me a picture of the translucent bucket you are talking about.

I felt the grit guard took up so much space at the bottom of the 5 gal. bucket, that it was a waste of the QEW/ONR. Needed to create a lot more solution just to get the solution up beyond the grit guard level. Until the drought is over and I go back to regular washing, I'm preferring a smaller bucket, no grit guard.

Yes, I also use a smaller bucket no grit guard for QEW...but as of now I don't do that too often.
