"Wash and wax" shampoos good?

There are numerous shampoos which leave some type of wax or sealant on the car. From what I have read, 1z pearls is one of the best of these types of products. These are convenient, but if the product leaves a wax or sealant on the car, does it also leave some of the dirt also? Don’t I want the shampoo to completely rinse off? Is it better to use a shampoo that completely rinses off, and then for convenience use an easy to use spray sealant, like optimum spray wax? Thanks

I like these types of shampoo as I find them to generally not be quite as harsh as others. 1Z Perls, Kit Carnauba, and NXT come to mind, although NXT can be harsh if you don't dillute it properly.

I personally prefer to use a quality shampoo (Griot's, Pinnacle, NXT, SS&S, TOL Bubble Bath, etc.) and immediately follow the wash with a QD. That gets any remaning water drops and any water spots and leaves the finish nice and glossy and slick. Damn I have the sudden urge to wash my car now...

I use kit carnauba wash and wax. It's cheap OTC, less than 1/2 price of meg's gold class and washes very well. Seems to leave a nice slick surface, but more importantly it cleans well. If it adds a little extra protection or a little extra shine, that's just a bonus.

Autozone often has the 64 oz on sale for $2.99, and recently had the 96oz on sale for $3.99.

1Z perls is brilliant.

I prefer to spray qd onto the car during drying - helps drying and saves a step

If you have a daily driver that doesn't get any or very little TLC, use a good wash n wax and maybe WAUD or other spray wax like optimum

At least it has some protection

I got a free sample of the Eagle One product (Wax As-U-Dry) and tried it on my wifes car, since it was time to renew it's sealant and I was going to strip it the following week anyway. I didn't have much confidence that it would make much of a difference, as the car had gone the entire winter without anything but maintenance washing.

I was very surprised at the slickness and the gloss it created, so much that I gave it another month or so to see how it would hold up. My little sample bottle ran out, but two uses of the stuff provided a nice shine for a little over a month, with good beading and slickness.

As good as a "traditional" sealant or wax? I don't think so, but it sure was easy to use! And on the Dark Green car, the shine was impressiveconsidering the lack of time and effort required.

good detailing,

Andrew
