Wash after polishing

Should I wash my truck before I wax after I have polised with M105/M205?



I will be applying red moose machine glaze and carnuba.
 
Not always necessarily a waste of time. Sometimes when a polish dusts a lot, its helpful to wash it off quickly.



However as previously mentioned, for you its probably not really that important.

Just make sure you do a IPA wipedown
 
I wash after I polish. I'll use the pressure washer to get the dust out of the crevices, and any excess polish out of the gaps.
 
IPA= Isopropyl Alcohol



This will remove the oils that 105/205 has in it to ensure proper bonding with whatever LSP

you use
 
IPA is rubbing alcohol that you can get anywhere, like Walgreens or Wal-Mart. Get the 91% and mix it 50/50 with distilled water in a spray bottle.



FWIW, I almost always at least rinse of a car after polishing to get out/off any residue and dust in cracks and crevices, etc. and will inevitably be there. I'll either use a foam gun, let sit, then rinse, or just wash it if it's bad.

Me too, and then I'll do a IPA wipe down. The key for me is to have a pre-LSP finish that is sqeeky clean. The barer the finish the better an LSP will bond with/to the paint.



Meg's 105 dusts like crazy and unless you tape off every crack, it will find its way into them. I've tried brushing it out and using compressed air, but nothing is better than a PWer.
 
I would not do a IPA wipedown. Your going to RMG which will add oils. Then go to your NUBA. Polish + RMG + Nuba = Awesome
 
If you wash after you polish, don't you run the chance of adding additional swirls and other scratches you were trying to get out with the polish? This is of course if your wash sequence is not carefully done.
 
I've never witnessed a problem. Most times, RIDS get instilled when there's abrasives(compound) on the surface and they get ground in while washing(even a contaminated wash mitt). If you get them off/soften prior to touching the surface(with a PWer) you'll be fine. The last thing I need is swirls or RIDS put into a surface that I just spent countless hours prepping.
 
For me, washing is product-dependant. When using M105, I wash the car after wiping it down due to heavy dusting. OTOH, after a light polish with UF, I just do an IPA wipedown or use Hi-Temp's silicone remover in the same application.
