WARNING: No Curves Ahead :-(

99ITR_SC.......Thanks for your reply! :)

But you're teasing me, man! ;) You say there are lots of great roads around Van, but only tell me about one you wouldn't drive because it's a residential area.

I'm in White Rock, so it's a bit of a hike to just about anywhere, but that won't stop me if there's a great road within a reasonable distance.

Could you please tell me about some of the good ones that are a little more "velocity friendly" than the British Properties? I'm not adverse to breaking the law -- I find I have to, in order to enjoy driving the car.....:nixweiss

TIA

Barry,

Ooops, sorry it took me so long to reply, I sometimes forget where I posted/commented stuff. :o

how's the 3 with it's new suspension? heh heh, Hawaii is a nice place to live, but when it comes to finding a nice curvey road, like that coastal one or the one where i test drove my friend's 3, it can be hard to drive enthusiastically with the amount of cars on the road. even driving late at night doesn't help.

but yeah, if you're ever in Hawaii, PM me. i'm not sure if my friend will loan his 3 though, it's his "baby" now. :D but i can definitely show you some of the roads, probably take half a day to do considering how small Oahu (the island i live on and where Honolulu & Waikiki is located on) is.

I'm lucky enough to live in northeast PA, with not one but two SCCA hillclimbs within 15 minutes of my house, and a third less than an hour away.

Attached is a picture of Buck Mountain Rd, AKA Weatherly Hillclimb. There's also a turn marked "5 MPH".

Hirosh....the new suspension is unbelievable--I thought it handled well before, but this is another league altogether.

So much so that the guy doing it for me (calls himself an "ex-track whore") took it for a post-install test and told me my tires were limiting me to 60 to 70% of my suspension's potential.

That surprised me -- though they're only Khumo ASX's, I didn't think they'd be that bad. After a little checking, I figured out that the tires I have (225/45/17) are too wide for the Mz3's stock 6.5" rims, so when they're pressed hard in a corner, the sidewalls can roll over more easily. I'm in the middle of discussions with the tire place that recommended and sold these tires to this newbie.

Mosca.....what a great picture! Makes me drool......you're a lucky man to have roads like that so close by....are there lots of people stretching things thru the turns up there?

hmmmm, if i'm ever in BC....;)

225 for 6.5" yeah, the 225 are probably too wide for the 6.5" rims and causing sidewall roll. i had a friend in college that put some 225/50 R 16 on his 6.5" SVT Contour rims, and he noticed his handling was a little off. perfect for a 7" wide rim though. :p

hopefully that place will allow you trade them for the right size or at least pro-rate them.
