War of the Worlds Sucks!!!

Easily the worst movie of the year. Honestly, please save your money. Wife and I just saw it.

Another triumph of CGI over any story. I don't expect an Adam Sandler movie to tell a story but I certainly expect Steve Spielberg to. It was supposed to be scary but I found it boring...

Several of Spielberg's recent movies have not been up to the standards he has set for himself. I think Ron Howard has more interesting movies, though they typically deal with far different subjects than Spielberg's.

Greg,

You are right. Ron Howards films have told a story in convincing terms lately. Seabiscuit and Cinderella Man are classic films.

Well we saw it last night... my wife was antsy to leave, didn't think it was anything great... me... I LOVED IT! Thought the effects were great and the movie was exciting from start to end. Go figure...

Did you know he has a place on Hilton Head? I think one or two of his kids also attend a private school on the south end.

I liked it for the most part, but the ending was bad.

It's the ending in the book and the exact ending from the Gene Barry movie, when the door opened I imitated the three fingered hand coming out and when it did my wife thought I was clairvoyant! She hadn't seen the previous movie.

I liked it. You guys that hated it or say the ending is bad do realize it was a remake right? LOL

That was Gene Barry & Ann Robinson standing on the front porch playing Grandma & Grandpa at the end of the film. Thought that was a nice touch by Speilberg.

I thought it was "watchable" and that's about it.

Ok, how many remember the original "WOTW"? Yes, the one with Gene Barry. Now that's a great movie!

Now, how many want to admit seeing it as a kid in the theaters in 1953???

Alright, I'll be the first one ! (Yes, that puts me in the Jurasic period). I remember being scared out of my seat along with the other Sci-Fi classic "the Day the Earth Stood Still."

I gotta say it - They sure don't make movies like that anymore!!!!!
