Wanting to get some CD2 Engine Detailer.. Can someone help?

Do you really want 6?
You can buy it on Amazon or Direct from Midway for $7.99 ea. in single lots. Shipping is $5.99 per order plus 49 cents a pound.
The last I got from them was $7.49 ea. and my total order for 2 cans was $22.57 including shipping. Shipping on the two cans was $7.59.
I ordered it April 2nd (Sunday) and received it April 7th, Friday.
It isn't that hard to get. :)

Well 2 of them for $22 doesn't sound too enticing however.

Its obvious CD2 can still be purchased depending where your located or the amount of web surfing you want to do..Is CD2 gonna eventually be discountinued?

Maybe not, but I have some and you don't. :D

Yes, it was a little expensive, but at the time it was the only place I could find the stuff.
I did later find it at an Auto Zone for $4.99 a can. I bought a couple there, too.:)
I'll try to check at an Auto Zone tomorrow if I remember.
I can also check if Advance Auto can order the engine detailer. Their web-site lists some CD2 items, but it doesn't list the engine detailer.

Sounds like supply and demand ..i'll sell you can of megs#16 for $35.00 shipped :D..

HellSpawn ,I can go to Murrays tomorrow to verify if they have any CD2 on the shelve ....I think the cans might be $6.99 but don't qoute me..Do you do that much engine bay detailing..Anthony (jngrbrdmn) posted a link on Ebay ...have you checked for any Auctions....

Excellent comparison as far as the products being readily available.
Both are decent products, but not really big sellers.
In the case of #16, I think the low sales volume was a factor in Meg's decision to not keep it in the line. If it needed reformulation to meet new regulations, the cost probably wasn't worth the return.
The CD2 Engine Detailer is probably a low volume item for most parts houses so they devote that shelf space to a product that they hope to sell more of.
You see the same thing in supermarkets all the time. Something doesn't sell, they don't order it again.

As far as the price from Midway. If someone does buy it for $5 a can for Hellspawn and ships it to him, how much is he going to save?
2 cans @ $5 = $10, Iowa sales tax is 6% so add 60 cents. Shipping will be $5 or so and Hellspawn offered to compensate someone for helping.

So, maybe $5 for the helper. Adds up to $20.60 or $10.30 per can. Not too far from $11 per can. :)
Anyway, good luck getting the CD2 Engine Detailer. If anyone really wants it, it really isn't that hard to get.

Between two families we have 5 cars (01 Taurus, 01 Jeep GC, 03 Dakota, (2) 97 Maximas.)

They keep me busy sometimes just keeping maintenance and cleanup on them , then the occasional detail every so often. I do maybe 2 cars every few weeks, nothing major. Just thought if I got some I'd want it to do me for a while.

Any thoughts on about how many applications on average from a can?

I talked with a counter person at the Murrays in Romeoville and he verified on the shelf for 5.99/can, 12.x ounces.

No i don't know how many applications per can..I remember one of the forum members saying a can will go a long way..some guys here have used CD2 for wheel well dressing,so how long will last depends on how often you use it..i know not real answer..with all those cars you have your work cut out for you..

CharlesW, has broken down the price and shipping quite well for you so he has certainly made sense of this whole buying and shipping thing ..either way it looks like where ever you your savings may amount to pennies to dollars..

How many applications you get per can also depends on how thick you lay it on and how big your engine bay is. In the past, I think I've gotten maybe 10-15 applications out of a can if not more. I never really counted so that's more of a guess. Once you get it on there though it lasts a long time and you can just restore the look with a quick QD cleanup.

Then I might not need that many cans. The bays are just what I'd call average and all.

Could I get the UPC # of the barcode from one of your cans? My oreilly's will try to get me some locally but need the UPC to work from..

thanks in advance.

I don't know much about UPC codes, but I think this is what you want.

It's a good product, but certainly not a "must have".
Here's the engine compartment of a 6 year old GTP with 53,000 miles on it that has never had any dressing used other than 303 on the hoses about once a year.

FWIW, CD2 lists a web address on the can. They might tell you where to find the engine detailer.

Addendum: The link didn't work for me.

I could go on and on about how great this stuff is. I don't know that it is worth ten bucks a can. I think five to seven dollars is as much as I'd be willing to pay. Beyond that and I'd say there are more economical options that work just as well. Poorboy's Bold N Bright seems to do something similar, but just isn't aerosol propeled. I bought a case on ebay last summer and have been using it sparingly. I really look forward to a good OTC replacement.

$7.99 is the highest I have seen it, but that was on-line and would have the shipping charges added. Unfortunately, shipping charges are something that are always going to have to be taken in to account when ordering on-line.
As I harp on a lot, driving to several stores trying to find a product isn't free. When you pay the shipping, it's at your doorstep or it doesn't cost you anything.
I would hate to put a price on how much I spent running around to Car-Quest stores trying to find the Dura Gloss products I wanted. One call to Dura Gloss and 4 days later, I had them. Couldn't have been easier and I like easy.

Fortunately, I had read that a lot of places didn't carry the NXT Glass Cleaner so I didn't even try to find it locally, I just ordered it on-line.
Since that time, I have been in three different auto supply stores, Wal*Mart, and Target and none of them had the NXT Glass Cleaner. Sure glad I didn't try to find it locally.:)

Yea a person forgets to add in those costs most times. At least with a cellphone the LD is included :) Anyway, the best I can find is 48.xx for 6 shipped, and the shipping only goes up about $1.20 from 1 can to 6.
