Want to see how soft Honda clearcoat really is?

I definitely can relate as the GFs black honda accord is a maintenance nightmare. "butt scratches" as I like to call them show up since the car is parked in the garage. At least I know I am the only one that washes the car. I am also the mechanic. But I did find that using certain LSPs helped prevent the micromarring.

Which LSPs are they? My son has a Galaxy Grey Metallic 2006 Civic LX Coupe on the way and I'm wondering what to use on it.



Unless I hear otherwise it'll get a full Zaino treatment.

Setec: Repainted as per Honda specs. I had the same clearcoat as Honda uses applied.



Neothin: This was right after washing. I had some other things to get done before I dressed the tires...They wear Z16 as we speak .



Super: 3 layers of Z5 on it now. The paint is very slick.

Even using the same paint, there is no way a body shop can duplicate the conditions the paint is applied and baked at the factory. I am not trying to be argumentative but, maybe the baking at the factory hardens the paint more than is possible with the lower temperatures used by body shops :nixweiss

My Audi is black and I go through the same thing. It is so easy to get swirls and such a project to get them off. I had a similar problem when safelite came to repair a small crack on my windshield and this swirls my upper drivers side fender and the upper right hand of the hood.

Wade: Nope, this is my CT guy. I know his son pretty well and he is usually very careful with my car. It was a very simple checkup this time around so maybe it was one of his employees. Just trying to note how easily things can turn ugly.

I don't know either and really the only Honda paint I am familiar with is the paint on my last 4 bikes, all Honda. Here is my current ride. It does seem to swirl easy but, that could be due to all the Cordura luggage and Leather riding gear that gets rubbed against it all the time.

Don't feel bad Sean mine is just as soft. Gotta love the swirls coming back after a long day on the PC to remove them all. To make matters worse mine is BLACK :grrr

It always helps for the mechanics to wind seeing a few extra dollars in their pocket when you come in for your appointments .

So you have to bribe your mechanics into not damaging your paint when they work on your car?!

Well, that sort of abuse will even mar my Audis Had to polish out a long one from the side of the S8 after Thanksgiving weekend. It was on the side where people walked past and appeared to be from somebody's purse/coat/something brushing against the car [sigh] Oh well, better than another deer incident and it's the risk you take when you actually use 'em for transportation...
