Want to detail my car

spark plugs.

New member
I want to do a full detail using recommended products from this site and by Scottwax and i just want to see if i need anything else...

car wash

Clay magic

absorber (which i have)

6" Porter Cable

backing plate

2 yellow pads

2 white pads

2 gray pads

a couple microfiber towels

Meguiar's #83

Meguiar's #80

Meguiar's #16

The car's paint is a little scuff and has slight swirling. would the AIO cover it or should i use DACP instead?

does anyone know where to get speed glaze from? i'm buying most of these products from autogeek.net and i cannot find it on that sight

any recommendations are welcome.

this is what i'm working with

You sure that's not the after pic??

i've experimented with detailing with beginner buffing machings (AC DELCO 8" buffers) and i'm a pretty big fan of Gliptone products and Meguiar's Gold class wax. after seeing some finished products by Scottwax, i'm intrigued to take my detailing to another level.

That's a nice Teg you've got there. If it has light swirls, AIO should take care of them, but you should still buy some DACP for future use. I don't see Speed Glaze on Autogeek, but you should be able to find it and most of the Meguiar's Mirror Glaze line at your local PBE store (store that sells automotive paints, specialty equipment, etc. that your local Napa wouldn't carry). Here's a link to where you can find a local PBE.

Hope everything works out, welcome to Autopia!

Do all your polishing with a polishing pad (#83, #80, AIO) and you can do #16 by hand or with a finishing pad. You also might want to do a search for 'spit shine' which seems to work very well with #16.

Glad to see you over here! You will get your questions answered very quickly here.

thanks for the welcomes guys. Scott, you thinki should apply all of those with just the white pad? no yellow pad?

Yellow is cutting? I normally use the Meguiars pads so I am not up on which pad is what color on other brands. The burgandy cutting pad that Meguiars has will ligthly haze softer paints when used with the PC but some other cutting pads won't. I'd only use a cutting pad if the polishing pad isn't aggressive enough for what you need. Similarly, I'd start with #80 before stepping up to DACP. If #80 does what you need, then save DACP for later.

You always want to go with the least aggressive polish/pad combo needed for your particular situation.
