Wal-Mart steps up their bullying

if you are black you can not move up working for walmart. I guess that is ok too?

When did I say that was okay? If any store is truly guilty of discrimination, they should be prosecuted.

Watch the movie.

Should I watch 'Loose Change' next? ;)

Honestly, I don't care enough either way to invest the time.

Brad Pitt is not a godd example. You do NOT have to go to see movies. However when there is nowhere else to shop.... that is another story.

Are there really places where Wal-Mart is absolutely the only place to shop or work?

In any case, walmart will never see my money ever again.

I have no problem with that. :nixweiss

Like I said earlier, I don't shop there either because Targets are nicer and have better employees. Just like IHOP > Denny's for the same reasons.

Walmart has people fooled into thinking they have such "superlow prices" on their crap. In reality, their prices are no better than anyone else selling equivalent items. So, why go and fight their crowd, park 1 mile from the building, to find prices no better than anywhere else?

I also have a huge problem with Wally sourcing a huge portion of their inventory from China. So to all the Wally shoppers, all you're doing is growing the Chinese economy, while ours (particularly manufacturing) is disappearing before our eyes. Wally is buying the cheapest Chinese crap possible and then making everyone think that their goods are the best at low low prices. You all think we have a dependence on foreign oil, well, in the not so distant future, we are going to have a dependence on China for nearly everything we buy. Walmart isn't the only one to blame, but they're a huge contributor.

I'm not sure I buy this. On many items I have shopped for Wal-Mart has easily beat Target and K-Mart and Ace and others on household items (and often Costco!) and Publix and Kroger on grocery items.

This is almost racist thinking. Much stuff from China is fine quality. You don't need high quality manufacturing to make plates or plastic items. And who says that losing manufacturing jobs is bad? It's actually a good thing because in a quality advanced economy like ours the white collar and design jobs pay better.

I remember when we in the software world said the same thing about automotive jobs going overseas, that we weren't competitive and that we should concentrate on high value add, like, say, software production. Software jobs always pay better, new economy, all sorts of arguments. Of course, that was a lot easier to say before the rise of outsourcing to India.

I'm not sure which side I take on the white collar vs blue collar jobs, but I will tell you that without a solid manufacturing base, with the oppt for avg joes to make a good living, our middle class is in trouble. I know of a couple of steel companies, non-union, who's average annual pay for production workers, based on profit sharing, wages, bonuses, is over $100K. Lots of small town farmers, factory workers, etc., are doing well there and prospering. At the same time, I know alot of IT pros out of jobs, as their high paying software gigs are now being done in Bombay.

At times like this, I wish I was an economist instead of a dumb ole sales guy.

Walmart beats Wegman's on many grocery items here, but Wegman's is quicker, cleaner, has better produce, and is simply more fun to walk around than Walmart.

People are so quick to throw around the "race" card nowadays. It's come to a point that you can't support your own country or culture, without being tagged a racist, and it's quite honestly, sickening. PC has ruined this country, among other things.

I suppose the THOUSANDS of people who have lost their (manufacturing and other related) jobs in the US and had them shipped to low cost China or other places, would think it's pretty bad. But, of course, us white collars can't be bothered to give thought about the hard-working Americans in this country, who don't have the luxury of sitting behind a desk all day. Who says all those workers are going to find white collar jobs anyhow? Not that easy...

And, in an advanced economy, we should be able to produce our own goods with state of the art manufacturing facilities, not rely on those of communist countries. So, have we progressed, or regressed?
