Wagner Spray Tech Control Spray

Staight from OPT. If you buy a case (4 gallons) you get 25% off. Here's the killer part: you can mix and match the gallons any way you want. 1gal OptiBond, 1gal OCW, 1gal ONR, and 1gal PoliSeal for example. You can mix anyway you want.

I looked at thier site and didn't see it listed.

I use a cheapo gravity fed air powered paint sprayer from Harbor Freight to apply most of my dressings on wheels, wheel wells, and engines. Works great. I'm surprised more people are not doing so. Plus, you'd think you'd use more product but I actually use less with my sprayer as opposed to a trigger sprayer.

I use this method as well. However not every one has a compressor and most mobile guys don't have one on board. This gun is simple and is electric. It also takes up little space.

Not to HiJack the thread ( but I'm going to ) I have a compressor and a gun and started to look into Opti-Bond and if I found a good price the shipping was outragious.

BTW I did a search but Opti didn't bring up much.

Where do you guys buy yours? Last place I looked had a good price .. $24 but shipping was $16.

Look at it this way. You buy one gallon of the product. You can dilute it 2 to 1 so you are really having 3 gallons of product shipped.

Dent's & Details...I bought on of these sprayers yesterday and will use it this weekend. Are you breaking down the machine and cleaning all the parts after each use or are you just closing off the spray tip and storing it with the Opti-Bond solution still in the supply container?

I use the unit every day so product is in it all the time. I haven't cleaned mine out yet.

Has anyone tried diluting Megs Gold Class Endurance gel and spraying that on?

Also, I may have missed this, but what's the advantage to diluting whatever product and spraying it on with a sprayer versus just using a spray on product like NXT Insane Shine Tire Coating or something similar? Better application? Lower product cost?

I haven't use Meg's but I've shot everything I have trhrough it except Hot RIMs Gel. All of the products did well excect the really thin ones. The gin comes with a cup that has a hole in the bottom for you to judge how thin the product should be.

Optibond was intended to be used through a gun, shipping charges are less for a consentrate, you can control the shine with different dilution ratios, faster application, more even application, avoids excess in tread that causes sling, with proper flow adjustment-less product is used than if done by hand...

I'm sorry but I don't see how a $70 spray gun is supposed to make applying tire dressing any more efficient or effective. And you still have to deal with overspray onto the rim.

Why not just use a $1 sponge?

I do it for a living and it saves me time, uses less product by thin & even application, and looks better than using a sponge. I don't get over spray thanks to the wheel shield system. I don't get any kick backs from Optimum or Wagner so if you don't want to pay that for a gel or a gun, no problem. This thread was meant to inform people of a new/different option. I'm sure it's probably not for everyone.

Tho I don't have the Wagner gun I tried using my spray gun/compressor with a watered down dressing and even tho I have been using sponges for years this is 10 times quicker and uses way less product.

Maybe not for the weekender but if your doing a lot of cars its sure faster ..

I detail my truck (which has a black textured tonneau cover) and my GF car weekly. I brought a Wagner to speed up dressing application. Should work well on lower black trim, my tonneau cover and wheel wells. :up

When spraying Optimum Gel I tried the 2 parts water 1 part gel and found it hard to get a good mix .. I shook the canister really hard and long and you could still see separation of the product from the water. Same when I mixed it in a 2L pop bottle. Thus the spray was erratic. Applied by hand it looks great .

Any hints to getting it to mix?

I have used the Dollar Tree tire dressing with really good luck full strength

I use the WCS for Optibond, Instant detailer, PowerClean, Traffic Lane Cleaner, OCW, etc. I found some of the quick release tanks on ebay. I love using this thing! I have never had a problem with mixing Optibond and water, I use it 1:1 or 2:1 and it mixes with just a couple shakes...

Wheel overspray is avoided with the WheelShield system I got from TOTL.

Don't wast money on this system. Get a cardboard box and cut out a circle the diameter of your wheel. Hold it over your wheel while applying product. I have one for each of my vehicles. Works like a charm.

I've done this cardboard thing too, for some years now. But this topic brings up the thought about one of those gallon size garden pump sprayers. I haven't tried it yet, but wouldn't this work as well? Just give it about 20 - 30 pumps and you're good to go.

the mist isn't fine enough.

okay so after purchasing Opti-Bond I have been reading up on paint sprayers and thought i should get one. My only problem was that I had to get a cordless one because I apply the dressing in the street (so i don't get the dressing marks on my driveway). I settled on the Ryobi cordless paint sprayer from home depot and have used it on two cars. I diluted the product 1:1 and when through the whole container on just two cars. I feel like the sprayer puts out so much product wayyy to quickly even though I'm moving quickly around the tire. Is there any solution to this? I opti-bond really to thick at 1:1 to have in a normal spray bottle? If anyone could give me some insight on this I would appreciate it. I just feel like I'm going to go through the whole gallon so quickly

That driveway mat seems like a good idea, I'm going to have to look into it.

Also, I'm going to check to see if I can adjust the quantity coming out of the Ryobi so see if I can get let product.

Thanks for the help.
