VW Passat CC

I'm strongly considering a 2010 CC. I stopped by the local dealer today to kill a few minutes and ended up test driving a 2.0T Sport model with 6-spd manual. Loved it. Problem is that the one I wanted, Black w/ two tone black/tan interior was being dealer traded and was no longer for sale. This turned out to be fine however as I went home did some quick research and found a dealer that has the exact same car. MSRP $29k, internet sales price...$23k??? What? I call, its true, they want the 2010's gone and apparently no one in Maryland can drive a stick...

Couple this with the fact that they're offering 0% APR for 60 mo. which would mean a lower payment that I have for my GTI and I'm left struggling with why I shouldn't go ahead and buy one.

Anyone own a CC or driven one? Opinions? Maybe some horror story as to why I shouldn't buy it (my wife would thank you)?

I totally fell in love with the looks when they first came out, I drove one then placed an order for an 09. They couldn't find me a manual!!! So I went and drove an A4. Never looked back. CC looks great, but the A4 was so much more fun in the turns, even pushed wayyy past the limit it was 100% predictable. I ended up with a CPO A4 for about 5k less than the CC.

Sounds like you'd be getting a great deal. I'd jump on it. Can't beat free financing + tons of discounts/rebates.

A friend bought a six cylinder (non-4MO) last year when there was $10k back. He ended up close to $30k for a real nice car. He got the white-gold w/cornsilk/black interior. Cool looking car. I think he is still growing accustomed to the power.

I'm the wrong person to ask about V.W. since I LOVE THEM ALL, but...you'd be crazy not to get a CC. I would recommend getting a CPO CC over any new one (2010 models due to new Premium VIII radio & DSG). There are plenty of 'em with low miles (not in manual, though). CPO will add another 24K miles of bumper to bumper warranty on the car. At the end of the day, you can get a CPO CC with a 60K mile warranty versus a brand new Dub with a 36K warranty. Trust me, you'll need it if you plan on keeping the car past 36K miles. My CPO Passat w/ the 2.0 TSI engine at 18K miles died the other day. I had to get a new fuel pump and fuel injectors, "care free maintenance," etc along with a rental car...total cost to me...$0!!! Who cares? I'm covered for another 42,000 miles!!! V.W. FTW!!!

hey man im a tech at V.W and i drive them all day long. i do like the cc as far as styling goes, but the car is no where near as fun to drive as you would think. its way too big and you have no visiblity of anything around you when your inside that car. it just feels like a big awkward volkswagen where as a jetta or gti feels alot more tight. if you want something more practical i would get a gli or a jetta tdi in a stick. the tdi is actually alot of fun due to the amount of torque they have and they are really reliable. as far as reliability goes though the 2.5L motor that you can get in a jetta is by far the most reliable. the cc is also a nightmare for crazy electrical gremlins. we see alot of electrical problems in them. i also did a wheel bearing in one last week with 10k miles on it. just some food for thought, hope it helps.

Food for naught. I'd still want a C.C. with out hesitation! Bring one to me o master of they domain. I'm willling to give you access to y 1 of a kind GTI for access to your CC. What do ya'll think, and how can we arrange such a gathering?

********!!! Your tacti is are garbage. Show me more under tighter reines. or your last match has been met. No recourse.

Plain &simmple.

what lol can i please have some english to bring with me to this battle of apparent massive proportions. i didnt say i hated the cc i just wouldnt buy one. personally i think working on V.W's makes you not want to buy any v.w.

LOL! All of my co-workers constantly try to make me feel stoopid for loving V.W.'s! If I wanted a car that was just reliable, I'd buy a Honda. I need more than reilability, though. I need driving excitement, looks, solid road feel, performance, an elegant interior that works, and a brand with a long history of defining generations. I believe V.W.'s offers a balance that none of the other brands offer can despite their "poor" quality. But that's what warranties are for.

Sorry about previous post. I always forget to log off this site and facebook, and then I get hi-jacked. My friends are douches!

I read an article in MotorTrend that advised adjusting your side view mirrors outward significantly. This actually eliminates your blind spots. The rear view mirror itself provides substantial visibility. The CC's tight sloping C pillar can make it hard to see if you turn your head when making lane changes, but with the mirrors positioned just right, you won't have to turn your head. Give it a try. It was hard at first, but I'm hooked now.

Look? I just listen for horns when changing lanes. Its too hard to eat, text and check mirrors at the same time.

Thanks for the comments guys.

My current car is a 2006 GTI, 2.0T w/ DSG, and my previous car was a 2000 Audi S4, 2.7T, 6MT so I'm patently aware of VAG reliability issues. Going from an FSI to a TSI 2.0T though is still a step up from what I've read.

As for the handling, I'm not sure. During the test drive I didn't really bother to push the envelope at all. Coming from my MKV GTI, my assumption was that it would be decent, and my overall impression of the car driving around at sedate city speeds wasn't all that different from my GTI. As for the comment about the car feeling heavy compared to a GTI I find that a bit odd since both have curb weights right around 3400 lbs, and it is afterall a front drive with 60% of its weight up front. Luckily the handling issue can be negated by investing in a $300 rear sway bar.

I love the interior of the "Lux" models (leather, belt line trim, etc...), but I'm not willing to buy another car with DSG. I miss having a proper six speed too much, and saving $5k doesn't hurt too much either.

Well, that said, all that remains is working out a solid deal on my trade. I'll post up some pics when I pick it up.

^^^ I have a 2006 GTI w/DSG as well. It feels like a brute compared to my Passat. The Passat is more refined, smooth, and elegant feeling. You're gonna love the CC, man! Do it now!
