Volvo S60R

I admit, there are very few cars that would make me reconsider getting another Maxima but this particular Volvo is intriguing. What do you guys think of it? Would it be as cramped as a WRX in the interior for guys of my stature?

PrinzII, there are few cars like it! A luxury sports car with electronic suspension and 4wd control... With 300HP!

Sure it's not some cramped teenager car... it's an exclusive car!

Look at this:

Can you imagine long road trips on that? (best seats in auto industry!)

A nice piece to detail...

Prinz, the S60R is a good value for its performance, but the interior doesn't have the roominess of your Max. I sat in one, and while the front seats are comfortable, the aggressive bolsters might be too snug for those of us who aren't the 140 lb. European racecar driver.

At $40K, I'd rather have the faultless driving dynamics of a 330i or A4, which both don't look like a modified '97 Accord. Yes, they're slower, but they have the competence and grace many raw Swedish cars are lacking.

I like Volvos but I'd prefer a Maxima....provided the stock grill is immediately switched with a billet one!

Depends on the generation. I think you were eyeing the A32 (4th Gen) which spanned '95 - '99 if memory serves me correctly.

You could fitt one of each inside a S60... (modified 97 Accord? ) faultless driving dynamics... (you only sat in one...you could tell that??? :nixweiss ...and yet it's an European racecar driver...:nono

I was looking at jgv's pics of the interior and can tell that it's not going to have enough room for a guy of my stature. :(

Don't get me wrong, I like the car very much but the main thing for the future Mrs. and me is comfort since we are both 6'+.

Have you ever been inside one? Swedish people aren't known for being small...Like Japanise people...

Bear in mind, I said the pic looks like it may be small. I am going to take a gander at it to see for myself before making a final determination. :D

I fancy the volvo over any of the aforementioned cars.

For one, it has character - something audis, and particularly maximas - seem to lack from the factory (there are SOME audis that do, but they're too much $$).

The vovlo is intriguing, quirky, and it has plenty of room (sat in one and I'm 6ft)

In fact, that car is one of the very short list of new cars that I would buy today.

Just my .02$

You really should test drive an Audi RS6 with 450 HP! Puts that Ford owned Volvo to shame!

I had a AUDI before buying the Explorer , it was a awsome car, but I would say that the "Ford owned Volvo" would be a shame next to AUDI.

Audi tends to give more problems than Volvo does(on any department)Volvo gives you a much smoother ride, and if you are looking for comfort on long trips you wont find the AUDI to be any better than the "Ford owned"

Also I must say, I love my Ford:xyxthumbs :wavey

Correction: it was a awsome car, but I would not say that.........:D

As you can see, the Maxima has a larger interior. You should probably sit inside the Volvo (and probably test drive it as well) before making the decision.

I'd go with the Volvo, but that's me :D

The S60R's been tested in the UK against the Audi S4 and Mercedes C32 and I think also the latest M3. Main problem seemed to be that the M3 was rated as being so good that all challengers struggled to get anywhere near it!

Criticisms levelled at the S60 I recall referred to the steering in particular which wasn't rated as being as direct as the competition but, hey, I love it - it's a different and according to a colleague who's driven one goes like hell plus you can choose between saloon or estate.

Personally I'd wait for the Jag X Type R - supposed to be launched any day now and similar spec to the Volvo (i.e. 4WD, 350 + BHP and I think supercharged rather than a turbo).

Another question I have is in regards to service. One of my biggest knocks against Nissan is the service. I am wondering what Volvo's customer service rating is.

Well

Just another comment on the table, Im about 6.1 and I feel more comfortable on my audi A4 than on my wife´s S40, cause my seats goes down a little bit more, but I could drive both almost in the same way, I know that you are talking about and S60R, but talking about the interiors the Audi is way over the Volvo, the engine on my audi is 190 (With a chip and exhaust) the Volvo is 200 Hp but the Volvo is lighter, talking about performance the Volvo is quicker than the Audi, but talking about stearing wheel and handling the Audi is a better car, I think is a matter of choices. Talking about Nissan, my father has a Maxima and is a nice car, well equipped, but dont get me wrong is not an Audi, nor a Volvo, every car has his own soul, I think european cars differ a lot from japanese cars. In my case I prefer the europeans.

My advice test drive the car and see what do you like (I got a coupple of friends who test drive the S60 R they say that is a beast), by the way I think is better service with Volvo than Audi

Just my .02 cents
