Volkswagen CC Hologram/Deep Scratch Removal with 3D AAT

Re: 2014 Volkswagen CC Hologram/Deep Scratch Removal with 3D AAT

Nice job Vega. Huuuge difference before and after!

Thanks Ben. Using 3D products made a huge difference ;) I can't wait to try out BDX this weekend.

WOW!!! Spectacular job Ray!!! You obliterated those buffer trails and made the paint look perfect.

I'm sure the owner was more than ecstatic with the outcome especially since she loves her car. Your efforts are more appreciated.

I enjoyed reading your write up as well.

Thanks Marc.

Fantastic job! I'm sure your customer was overjoyed. I know I would have been. Great write up also.

Thanks for reading.

Great job.

Thank you Mr Guz.

Awesome work... I can't wait to try the 3D AAT this weekend!

Oh you're going to love it. I brought along a few other compound/polish combos with me for this detail so I could directly compare them against the 3D AAT's, and I kept going back to using the 3D AAT's. I really can't decide which of the two are my favorite. The finishing polish actually has a good amount of cut to it, but finishes down perfect and wipes off super easily without being too oily. I did end up transferring them into smaller 8 oz squeeze bottles so the bottles were easier to handle (compared to the 32 oz bottle). Let us know what you think!

Great Job !!! combo products really nice

Thanks!

There is no arguing the before's and after's great job, great review. You're the king, Ray.

Thanks for reading Mark!

Ray Vega --

You KILLED IT !!!!!
Absolutely perfect, clear, clean, smooth and glossy paint !!!

Im so glad she came to you and you took care of the Hack-Attack-Detail-Wack-Job...
Someone needs to whack those boys !!!

Glad you have a Paint Thickness Meter now - I love mine..
I like to use mine on the Micron scale since it takes 24.5 Microns to make 1 Mil, it's just easier to me to see the total amount thickness in Microns..

I think that the Microns scale would have to be more sensitive to change, again, since it takes 24.5 microns to make 1 Mil..

Great, great work !!! I am so proud and happy for you !

Thanks for the advice! I am very excited to add a PTG to my detailing arsenal, and I do want to use it with as much accuracy and precision as possible. I'll switch to Microns in the future. Thanks again Dan.

Awesome job! However, it's pre-refresh, so it's a 2012 or older.

Good catch! I'll remove the year from my post until I find out the real year of the vehicle. This wouldn't be the first time someone gave me the wrong year lol.

Ray, awesome work!

Thanks Mr H. Detailing is a lot of work. I skip a few gym days after a day of detailing lol. Idk how pros like you do this day in and day out.

Fantastic results, Ray! How in the world did the last guy screw up her paint that badly? The owner must have been ecstatic.

Those scratches in the roof are especially insane. Super impressive how you cleaned those up. Q: how come you opted for the Flex first then the Makita to finish the job? Why not start with the Makita? Was it a least aggressive first type of decision?

Again man, really excellent turn around. :bigups

Thanks Angus and I agree, the worst part is they actually charged her.

I compounded the entire section with a FLEX 3401 + compound first, then only if I saw deep scratches did I come back with the Makita + compound followed by G15 and finishing polish. If I didn't notice deep scratches, I would just proceed to the G15 + finishing polish. Basically I only used the Makita for the really bad spots, but still would always finish the panel with G15 + finishing polish. It is a sorta of way to be less aggressive at first, since the majority of the defects were removed with the Flex + compound combo. Thanks Angus.

Great job Ray!

did you measure the clear coat after your polish? Just curious of the differences between before and after

Thanks Silento, unfortunately I didn't want to touch the paint after polishing, or wiping it down with IPA, or immediately after applying CQuartz. I decided I wouldn't touch the paint with anything until CQuartz was at least given a few hours to cure. Hopefully I'll see this car in the near future and I can check the thickness again.

This thread highlights the need for a Highline Meter II PTG contest! How about it fellas???

LOL I'll bring this up in the next meeting :)

Just make sure you tell them it was ANGUS's idea...we don't want you to get fired, Ray!

Hey it never hurts to ask... Plus Ray is too much of an asset to PBMG to get fired over an giveaway idea.

I always joke with Ray about getting fired for his meeting contributions...if he was going to get fired, it would be my fault, anyway...it's my secret plan for moving to Florida...getting Ray fired so I can take his job!

:P

You went beast mode!

Thanks Jsou.

how elastic are both? how much product used for the whole car?

I filled up 8oz squeeze bottles with the 3D AAT products and I used about half of them. So roughly 4 oz's of each 3D AAT Compound and AAT Finishing Polish.

great work.! I am sure your customer was amazed.!

Thanks Hugo.

Your best work yet that I have seen.

Thank you Thomas.

Major LOL @ Terminator reference! Great job Ray!

I did a brand new 2015 Ram R/T this weekend and finally got around to using all of my new toys. I used the G21 and my awesome pink Flex with various pads and the AAT products. I only used the AAT on the doors and hood because those had a ton of swirls and some light scratches. The rest was done using HD Speed (which is pretty awesome as well). The AAT compound with the Flex and orange Buff n Shine hex pad cut so fast. It was so nice, it almost didn't need a second step. I used the G21 with some BOSS finishing pads and the AAT polish... wow. The Flex is a workhorse, but the BOSS is so smooth. The results of the two products are fantastic, and so fast.

Thanks everyone :)

That's great to hear you had the same results.
