VM then AIO...or AIO then VM

Guess I'm a little confused. I just saw the thread with the black Civic with pix. Can we use VM under WG??? I was going to re-do my black car with AIO then either WG, UPP od SG. However, the Civic pix looked great with VM. Won't AIO strip the glaze from VM? I kinda thought that the solvents in WG would strip VM. Now I'm all confused. Is it better to use AIO, then VM then sealant?:hm

~One man’s opinion / observations ~

Klasse All-In-One is an acrylic polymer resin that contains a chemical (solvent) cleaner that removes imbedded dirt, light oxidation, which occurs when paint loses it’s natural oils, tree sap, road film and old wax plus it provides an tough acrylic protection. The foundation of the Klasse line this is a true one-step product. It cleans, polishes and protects in one easy step. All-in-one is the first component of a two-part system; by adding the SG to the base coat of AIO it enhances protection, durability and the paints appearance.

Due to it’s cleaning (solvent) action you should start with this product first

~Hope this helps~

If you are planning on using SG or any other sealant that is picky about what it is layed over, I would use the VM first, followed by AIO. AIO will prep the surface for the sealant to bond.

Sorry to muddle things up for you. :p

I was the one who did the Civic with VM under WG. It's an experiment really. In the past I've used VM under EX-P when I wanted a very clear look and WG twins when I wanted more of a deep, wet look.

I really can't attest to WG sealant's durability over VM since this is the first time I've tried it. I've asked the customer to keep me appraised of the durability as time goes on.

I wasn't worried about putting WG sealant over VM as WG has no cleaning properties. I'm no chemist (although I am a Chem Eng...very different fields) so I really can't say whether the solvents in WG stripped off the VM. My initial assesment is no, it didn't. I've done a similar black car (2002 black Civic) with WG but no VM and the look was different from the black Civic that I did with VM/WG.

In this customer's case, I had the freedom to experiment as the customer will be maintaing the car regularly so durability wasn't of the utmost importance. Prep was more important in this case.

hmmm... Ive used VM under S100 and Collinite, but when I saw your post about using it under a sealant, it made me wonder if the solvents in WG were strong enough to remove the VM glaze. Now I'm going to have to try this on Sat.

I don't believe that WG's sealant has an appreciable amount of solvents in it so I don't think it would strip anything you put down first.
