VM bonding...

Will VM hide minor imperfections? Also, what will bond to it. I am mainly interested in sealants if there are any that can bond to it. I have some very minor stubborn haze after DACP that I have minimized, I will give it another go to lessen it more than wish to hide the last 5% of the imperfections and top. Thanks.

VM is a beautiful glaze. I have had much success with BF and Ultimate on top of it.....Course MW works well too, but i actually think, due to MW cleaning ability, it takes away from what VM does....I could be wrong though...

VM is very rich in oils. It probably would work ok with Platinum, Blackfire because they have a lot of oils in them as well. It won't actually bond I don't think, the oils just bond to each other. Yes, it will hide very minor imperfections, but IMO no substiute for a good finish. You could just top it with S100 or Carnauba Moose if you didn't want to use a sealant. Also, #20 or NXT would work because if NXT and #20 can bond over #7 according the Meguiars, it will certainly work with VM.

Carnauba Moose, S100, Meguiars #16/#26 all look great over VM. I have used NXT and both versions of Poorboy's EX over VM. I think 1Z Glanz Wax would also work but Klasse SG would require using AIO over VM to bond properly.

VM has very light abrasives and lots of oils, so most minor spider webbing will be removed or filled.

You say BF would bond to it. Thats interesting because BF is something I have been meaning to try for a while now. Now heres where it gets a little tricky. Currently I have a layer of NXT on. I was going to final buff some areas, remove NXT, VM, BF and see how that looks. Heres my questions:

1) Can I go with AIO to remove the NXT, then go VM to BF?

2) Can somebody give me some advice or tips on BF? Does it stain trim? Does it have good hiding qualities as well due to its oils?

3) Can/should I apply VM with my PC? I was thinking like speed 4 with a white pad maybe and then the tight areas by hand?

Bump for an answer to the above questions ^^^

Not to be impatient, just waiting for a definite answer because I am waiting to order....

Also, how good is VM, a final polish in my eyes should contain some minor abrasives and have good hiding abilities to hide any minor hazes or stubborn swirls. Thanks.

breakneckvtec- I would expect the AIO will remove the NXT.

I really like VM, but I don't expect all that much from it. I'll get the finish as good as I can get it before applying VM.

I've used BFII over VM on the satin black window frames (painted metal) of my XJS, it worked fine, though it seemed to take a while for the BF to fully "dry". Until then it was a bit oily, as if it were sitting on top of the VM. It was OK after a while though.

No, BF does NOT stain trim, in fact, I *use* it on the black plastic trim on my Audis and the XJS.

*I* don't think that either VM or BF hide much. And for me, the abrasives in VM are more of an ease-of-application feature than something that's gonna remove any marring. It's NOT a substitute for normal surface prep, more of a "finishing touch".

I apply the VM by machine all the time. Yeah, use a polishing pad and speeds around 4-5. VM is pretty goof-proof so you can pretty much use it any way you like.

So...because I tend to be a bit dense :p

Does this mean BF shouldnt have a problem being applied over VM? On properautocare.com they apply BF over glazes, but havent seen them recommend any other sealant be applied this way.

Yeah, you should be fine putting BF over VM. I just had to let it set up a bit longer than Patrick did.
