VM and PC pad ?

Planning on applying VM w/ my PC. What CMA pad should I use?

The white wax/polish pad, or the gray finishing pad.

I will top it off w/ S100. Costs $18 at the local harley shop in Honolulu. Not as cheap as the rest of you are getting it.

The price we pay for living in Hawaii.

BUT............Ranney, aka. Pakshak lives here.

Can I just use 3m Machine Glaze instead of the VM? or is there something special about VM?

Other than the personal preference issue (and I find that I LIKE using the VM), one difference between the two products is that VM is supposed to provide some decent protection even if you don't top it. Also, I'm not sure about the 3M, but the VM is very "trim friendly". It didn't stain any of the plastic/rubber trim I tried it on. I found no need to mask anything or otherwise be careful about what I got it on.

So far I've only tried it on single stage paint. For that, I applied it with a white CMA "finger" pad (made for single stage paint). Based on my (good) experience with that, for clearcoats, I'd apply VM using a CMA white pad. I believe that the VM would clog up a CMA black in no time, and note that it DOES contain some (fine) abrasives so you'd want to use a "polishing" pad.
