Virginia Tech Shootings

It was brought the the law enforcements attention but the women did not want to press charges.

That is where I feel society is at some fault as well. I saw an interview with a few of his old roomies who talked of all kinds of weird stuff the kid was doing. Maybe if someone would of just made one phone call to the police at one time this could of been avoided.

Yeah they didn't press charges. Another opportunity missed. This guy really hit the sweet spot of that thin line between criminal and citizen. Devil's luck :(

His room mates did call the cops and said he was crazy and suicidal, thats the reason they put him in the mental institution for a couple of days. But then he had to be released under the law and couldn't tell anyone about it or record it on his record due to privacy issues.

I think this is just a case where the dots could never have been connected. I think we all know someone who has a few of this guys qualities, but we may never see all of them at once which is what happened in this situation. Just because someone is quiet and never talks doesn't make them a killer, just because someone writes really disturbing literature doesn't mean they will live it out. I think this is something people just don't talk about as too accuse someone based on "odd" behavior.

In my opinion, the responsibility and fault of this act lies on one person alone, Cho.

OT:

If I know Im in the "Oh sh!t Im going die" situation. I grab anything like a 300 pages text book, a chair or even a laptop and throw at this POS guy. I know, I maybe all talk and crap. But, come on.......if this guy start shooting and no one do any thing about it?:angry This gunmen doesnt look that big, Im sure there some student thats 2x bigger than him and probaby could easily tackle his a$$ down. I think every one was frozzed and scared. Look at the odds? 1 vs 20+ peoples? My prayer goes to all the victims :(

Dude are you serious? In a situation like that Im sure you want to try and cordinate an "attack" on him while he is shooting. To a bullet, size of the person doesnt matter. Im sure anyone in that type of situation would freeze up, last thing you want to do is start running at the person that is firing a gun at you. One by one a person could run up to him and then one by one get shot. Even in a group of people 5 running at him, im sure he could fire 5 rounds before someone reaches him. It would take a lot more people all running at the shooter at the same time before someone could take a gunman down like that. A lot of people always say they would do something in a situation of this nature but pretty much guarantee it doesnt happen when the time comes.

I agree with 01bluecls - If I was in that situation I know I would freeze up and just be in shock. There were a lot of heroes that day and we should commend them for what they did. Not criticize these students about what they could have done.

:xyxthumbs Anyone see the footage and pictures the person sent to NBC? Very disturbing. I almost get sick looking at him in the pictures.

Remember guys, its already been said, but its worth saying again: hindsight is always 20/20.

It's easy to say "oh yea, I'm going to do this..." but when it comes down to it, you're not thinking like that. The *only* instinct is survival. You're not even thinking - you're running on pure, clear instinct at that point. That's it.

I fully understand that if you've never been in a crisis situation like that you wouldn't understand what I'm saying, but I'm sure a few of you have - robbed at gunpoint? Maybe even raped? These are the sort of situations I'm talking about.

I got robbed with gun point 3 times.. Yes, no BS here.

Twice in NYC subway....Yup, back in 80s.

One time in a project housing inside the elle, was in early 90s. You need to be calm, thats exactly what I did. Remember, the robber he might just nervous as you. I gave him what every I got.....period

I did got this chill when he said "Turn around"...man in that moment is could be end or happily after.

OH welll, not bore you guys.
