Viper paint question

Is there anything special about Viper paint?



Well, I've searched, but I can't find any info specifically for Dodge Viper paint. There is a red Viper that has been sitting at a local stealership for over a month. They sell a LOT of Roush Mustangs for such a small town. The Viper has some pretty bad swirls and light marring. I'm know the sales manager and I was thinking about making an offer to make the car look great again.



I've not polished many cars, but the ones that I've done, I've had very good success with. I'm using Menzerna IP with orange CCS pads and Menz FPII with white CCS pads. Considering this is enough to get the swirls out, is there anything else I need to know about a Viper specifically? Thanks for the help.:dance
 
Bump. Just curious if it's hard or soft, and will I be able to get rid of swirls with a PC? If not, I'll leave it alone.

A helped a friend detail with a red viper (one of the earlier years). He had light to moderate swirls / spider webbing. I was able to remove 70-80% issus using 1x pass Menzerna FPII and orange pad. On some areas, I used 2x passes with white pad. I knew I could resort to IP anytime but didn't need to. I did use Menzerna FG, but probably won't use it for him again since it didn't improve look too much.

Thanks for the input, dude. I was planning on doing the same thing that I did with my cousin's Chev p/u. Hood and roof with Orange pad and IP, then white pad with FPII. The rest of the car with orange pad and FPII.



I'll see if I can sell it.



Thanks for the replies gies. Not very encouraging to hear that it's second only to the C6. I've heard those can be a pain.:scared:
 
The SRT-10 Viper CC is fairly hard. The paint is very thin in the front grill area.



The good news is that there are lots of flat surfaces to work with and if it's a roadster, no roof. Comparing my Z06 and SRT-10, I really do not find a measureable difference.

:wow: Beautiful cars, man. Do you make your living as a detailer? I wanna be just like you.



The one I would be working on, if I can sell it, has a roof. Do you think the PC will be able to get enough of the swirls to make it worth the effort? I just used the rotart again today, but I'm not ready to use it on something like this. It's also older. I'm not sure what year, but it's not a newer one.
 
+1 for Vipers having tough paint.

You've had some good advice already so I won't overload the thread.

Be careful for the exhaust next to the door. First Viper I did the guy had been driving it all day and when I got in to move it I practically burnt my calf.
