Vinylex vs 303

Which of these products is better? I really dislike shine and oily look.

Currently, the only product i've used is lexol vinylex. Do you guys consider 303 to be better? Does it leave less of a sheen?

From reading the forums, 303 is supposed to leave a matte look. For the price, I will not try 303 (also heard the smell is terrible.) I use Black Magic Semi-gloss dash board protectant in Fresh Scent in black bottle (ala YoSteve.) I also have a 3L jug of Vinylex where I use more so than BM because of the smell (a select few like the scent of BM, others prefer Vinylex, Vinylex wins because it has a like new smell, and not oranges.)

If you want to decrease the shine of Vinylex, cut it half and half with water and buff after letting it soak in.

I switched from Vinylex to 303 because i understand 303 is the "safest" for rubber and vinyl. 303 defintiely leaves less of a sheen but i think if you layer it after waiting for it to thoroughly dry between layers, you can get it to shine a little bit more. If you hate the oily, shiny look, 303 is definitely the way to go.

Hope this helps.

Just to echo what has been said, 303 leaves a more subtle or matte finish, it's a great product.

I haven't noticed any bad odors in the several bottles of 303 I've gone thru. Maybe some have had bottles that started to mildew (hence the smells like dirty socks reference). My last bottle of Vinylex is lime green, and I suspect mildew is the culprit.

303 is definatetly great, i used it on the rubber hoses in the engine, and u notice and big difference from the non-applied areas

I've used both and like the look of 303 better. I however still use Vinylex because it's cheaper and I don't mind the shinier look.

Get the sample from 303 and compare it to your Vinylex. Then decide for yourself which one you like better. They're both great products.

303 is the bomb. More than worth the cost...with the right towels it lasts quite a while. The finish is matte and as non-greasy as it gets.

303 doesn't smell great if you stick you're nose in it, but it doesn't leave any smell when you use it in your car. It really doesn't add any odor to the car...
