vinyl/rubber protection

need a little input here. i ran out of protectant for interior (vinyl and rubber surfaces) and before buying more i was wondering if there would be any advantage to buying a product like 303 over the regular store bought brands (armor all, nxt protectant, etc.) i was using Meg. before, it came in a red bottle, forgot the actual name of it. i dont mind spending money for better products, i am just wondering if the more expensive products are worth the extra dough. for wax/sealant and polishes i know it's a big difference, i use Menzerna, Klasse, WG and #16, im just not sure as to the protectant. i also plan to start detailing my engine and hoses so ill need a product that will be able to be used in the engine compartment. thanks in advance
 
try adams vrt. i havent tried it, but am awaiting a big batch that i boguht solely for my new car soon. the vrt seems to give a low gloss, sheen appearance to everything it touchs and everyone seems to really like it on trim and engine compartments.


edit: they also have an in and out aerosal spray which would be pretty good for the engine compartment. but for and aerosal id probably just use stoners trim shine
 
boy, I need to learn how to search. hahahha Would this product help renew faded exterior trim and mouldings too?
 
Haha.... it's okay... VRT does seem to "renew" some mouldings, but if the trim is really looking aged, you might want to try Poorboy's Trim Restorer. It gets very good reviews.
 
Hey, thanks for that input. That helps out. I've been reading a lot about Poorboy's for a few months on this board. I should have thought about that.
 
I have to put my vote in for VRT, it is one of the most versatile products I have. Anything that's rubber or vinyl will look great when you use VRT. If I were you I'd get a half gallon, you'll use every bit of it.

Does Stoner Trim Shine give a glossy finish or a satin finish like VRT?

IMO, Trim Shine leaves a shiny (greasy) look, which is nice if you like that sort of thing. To me, it seemed to attract dust very easily though. It's nowhere near as matte as VRT. You could probably do some buffing to tone it down.
 
Poorboys Natural Look on the interior leather, plastic, and vinyl. It leaves a super clean look with just enough shine.
 
I like Adams VRT or Meguiars Vinyl/Rubber protectant. Both products have a similar milky texture. Both leave a low luster sheen, non oily finish, with Meguiars having less luster and more of matt finish. Adams has a pleasent smell and seems to have more of a conditioning agent. I only use these products on the exterior trim pieces. Interior dashes and such it seems to provide a little too much sheen. I like Meguiars Interior Quick Detailer for the dash. Another little inexpensive method I use for the interior, is Murphys Oil Soap diluted in a spray bottle. Cleans the interior nicely, leaves a clean scent, and a nice very low sheen.
