VIN sticker on bumper?

Hey guys, I've recently been thinking about buying a new front bumper due to a few scratches/chips on my current one. However, the front bumper on my car is emblazoned with a VIN sticker at the top. My question is, is this something that would be able to order and put on my new bumper? I know many manufacturers put VINs on their body panels, so I'm hoping someone has had an experience similar to this.

Thanks

As far as I know, it's illegal to make any form of the VIN stickers. Your best bet is to just buy another bumper and keep the original if it's something you're worried about. The other option is to try and peel it off with a heat gun.

Yeah, besides the stolen-parts issue, they put the VIN on body parts just so people *can* tell if they've been replaced.

I'd just see if a good shop can effect repairs to the original bumper cover.

What I'd consider is that some future buyer of the vehicle might think it was replaced due to an accident and/or be the kind of person who wants everything as "original" as possible.

Hmm.....good point, I bet a heat gun would do the trick without damaging it.
