Victory Polish?

Here are the pics as promised.

Disclaimer: I am a noob at detailing and also at photography.

Process: #3 on PFW, #2 on 5.5" orange LC, #1 on 5.5" white LC, Victory sealant as LSP.

The car started off with a lot of oxidized clearcoat, and was truly despicable-literally never been waxed and hasn't seen a wash of any kind in years.

All the swirls were removed but some chips and RIDs remain-which I am saving for whenever I have the time to practice some wetsanding.

Again, for 15 bucks I can't say enough good things about these products. Even touched up my black accord with the spray wax today and I like that stuff too.

Wow, that looks pretty darn impressive. That car was beat on for sure. Roughly how long did the 3 step polish take?

I finally got a chance to try this out on my wife's black 02 Civic, and as far as the polishes go, I wasn't too impressed. I tried their aggressive #3 polish on an LC 5.5 CCS orange pad to get out some fairly light scratches, then the #2 polish on a 5" Danase CCS pad which I bought thinking it was an LC. I didn't drop down to their #1 finishing polish because the first 2 polishes ended up doing more harm than good.

Even with their "moderate" polish on a white pad, it was introducing some tiny swirls while doing nothing at all for the scratches or existing swirls. Needless to say, I got a bit frustrated and decided to instead go with a 105/205 combo, finished off w/ XMT1 on a Danase 5" black pad.

Now, this could easily be user error. Perhaps I didn't let the polish break down enough, although it felt like I worked it for a long time with both polishes. The #1 polish might have gotten out the marring from the previous two polishes, but since the first two were doing NO correction, I decided not to even bother with it. Switching to the 105/205 twins showed an immediate improvement. Maybe on different paint I would have seen different results, but on THIS car with THIS method, it did not work for me.

On a different note, I did try the paint sealant that comes with the kit, as well as the funky-smelling QD. Both worked pretty well, and the sealant seemed to wipe off easily with very little dusting even on some spots where I let my son apply it and he went a little heavy-handed. The QD does what it should, although as mentioned before, it has a rather unpleasant smell.

This is a reflection after 105 on LC CCS orange, then 205 on Danase CCS white, and finally XMT1 on Danase CCS black. The Victory sealant was applied by hand.

I will be giving the polishes another try, but at least I feel like the sealant and QD were worth the 10 bucks I paid for the kit. Time will tell how long the sealant lasts, and I still have the liquid wax and spray wax to try out. All in all, it was a heck of a deal.:2thumbs:

A friend at work gave me a box (he ordered 3 and realized he would never use all 3!). I ordered my PC-XP and had gotten it along with some assorted 6.5" pads.

I started with the #2 polish and an orange pad, but ended up having to change to the #3 (most aggressive) polish and a yellow pad, which still didn't remove all of the water stain etchings :( You had to work the polish in so long, that by the time it was finally doing some good, it would be starting to dust up.

I did one fender fully, and completed with the #1 polish on a white pad, there are still some faint micro marring scratches, switches with flat edges I can tell are from the PC... but they are much more faint then the rotary swirls on the rest of the car or on my new G8.

The one fender actually does look pretty amazing compared to it's start, but it took a lot of work, probably an hour on the one fender. There were deep scratches from where I backed in to it, and you can hardly see them now.

After going back and giving the polishes another try, I am whole-heartedly disappointed in that part of the set. Using the aggressive polish again, I must not have been letting it work enough the first time. Or I might not have used the 4" orange pads on the PCXP last time, I can't remember. This second time around, the aggressive polish definitely lived up to it's name, wiping out most existing marring pretty easily. It did leave TONS of tiny swirls behind it though. I tried following with both the #2 and #1 polish and they did absolutely nothing to remove the micro-marring the #3 polish had left behind. It took 2 to 3 passes with 1Z Paint Polish to clear up the haze and swirls the Victory #3 polish left.

Also, after inspecting the areas where I used their paint sealant a few days later, I now have weird black clumps on the paint that weren't there before. The paint is black, but it looks like the sealant might have run or dripped a little after time. And the slickness didn't last at all. A few days at best.

I've poured out polishes 1 and 2, and may relegate the paint sealant for glass and wheels. The liquid wax gives a nice gloss but I don't know how long it will last either. If it lasts a few washes, I might keep it. Not sure yet about the spray wax. I'll definitely keep Polish 3 and the QD around and hopefully both waxes, but polish 1 and 2 and possibly the sealant have all been let-downs.:bawling:

FWIW, I went back to the Woot review page for this set and there's not much love for it over there either.

That's too bad. I haven't tried any of the compounds but I really like the spray wax. I like the detail spray too.

I know I'm reviving an ancient thread. But I thought I'd go ahead and post my results with this stuff. the longevity for the wax itself is not very good. But its not horrid.

For my test I decided against trying it on one of my vehicles in favor of a young friends' 92 Explorer. Its neglected, and will continue to be neglected because he's incredibly lazy.

Here's a few shots. I used my PC to apply each product, and microfiber to remove.

I don't think its better than the other products I've used, but it was cheap....so for the $, I'm pleased.

The Door is just for comparison. (gotta love single stage paint.)
