Wow...this VW I see has really stirred up the dust around here!
I was able to use this wax some time ago and I really like it. I was also recently sent by the Victoria Wax people some of their paint cleanser which works on the same principle as the wax. Apply it by hand.
It does not contain abrasives that will remove scratches or oxidation but it does a great job in "clean" paint prep. Very much like P21S or Pinnacles "Paintwork Cleansing Lotions".
The VW application is unique but it also makes sense in that a sponge like material may absorb much of the solvents that aide in paint gloss and also ease of removal....but with that same logic one must question if it, or any carnauba paste wax can be truly layered. The age old theory is that the solvents in the wax will degrade the previous layer. My favorite paste wax, Trade Secret, has talc powder in it, as do many paste waxes, and these talcs acts as "cleaners" to a certain degree. Not enough of a cleaner to remove polishes and glazes but rather designed to remove or absorb excess oils on the paint.
This is one reason why I don't layer my waxes, the other is I just don't have the time.
All in all VW is a great paste wax, either by hand or sponge applicator, it gives great gloss and wetness factor with average durability. If you wish a great pre-wax cleaner then their Lite-Cleanse (I think that's the name) is a great choice also.
I have recently been contacted by another company to test out a new polymer/acrylic system, which is said to rival the Klasse Twins. I am looking forward to this.
It seems I am doing as much testing of new products as I am detailing....if I could only get paid for the testing :ticked
