velcro coming off Cyclo pads easily?

I gave the Cyclo a good workout yesterday, and I really like using this machine.

I used the green pads with #9 and the white pads with FP. Both sets are destroyed; the velcro is almost completely off. These pads were new, and I didn't wash them and then have the velcro come off; it came off from normal use.

These pads aren't cheap. Is this typical of the factory pad? If so, who makes a better Cyclo pad?

Lake Country. Autogeek and the Autopia store sell the 4" pads. The ones I have are smaller version of the typical LC pads we're all familar with for the PC.

Perfectly centering these pads on the velcro backings is very important. If you're off, on the Cyclo they can rub together and little slivers of foam may shear off. Gotta really eye ball them.

I have been testing some new Cyclo pads for Cyclo Tools with new heat stamped velcro backs and they are AWESOME! No more glue.

They will be out shortly and I am sure if you contact Cyclo about the pads they will issue a refund or replacement.

Seems like it's been taking forever.

Anthony, ever use the LC Cyclo pads?

Yes I have used the LC pads but I prefer the Cyclo pads although the LC black Cyclo pads are great to use:up

I have had some of the LC backing come undone also.

Sounds like regardless of pad, always wash the pads by hand and let them air dry so artificial heat won't contribute to any delamination.

I have definitely had the same issue with the green pads. PB's polishes seem to be more harsh on the pads, but eventually they all die. :(

I second that. The first time I used my Cyclo, I had green shavings everywhere! :angry

I had no problems with the shavings, it's not that hard to center the pads.

Bill, these were "first use" failures. With the polishes, I clean my pads by rinsing with water, no dtergent or heat, and air drying. But these pads never got to the cleaning stage, they failed while still on the machine.

I'll contact Top Of The Line about this, and report back what they say. Obviously there will be no response over the holiday weekend. If it needs to go to Cyclo, I imagine they will advise me.

You will have new pads shipped to you immediately. TOL customer service is top notch!!!:xyxthumbs

I'd think it must be a bad batch or something. Mine are so well secured, they always feel like they'll rip the velcro off the machine when I go to remove the pads!!

Is this your first stint with the Cyclo?

Here is the old pads with the black velcro backing.

They then tried some blue velcro with a new adhesive but they fell apart after a few uses or when you cleaned them.

On both they glue was at times unsightly.

Now here are the new pads, or the new velcro backing. These are heat stamped on and they look so much more professional. I am not certain when they will be ready for sale but it should be within the next week or so.

Mine have the blue backing. I couldn't imagine that I'm the only person with this problem; has TOL replaced pads for everyone? In my email I asked for a return mail packng slip and a refund, but the machine is useless without pads. I'd prefer pads that work properly.

Tom

I have been using the 4" spot pads from TOL ( don't say Cyclo on the back) for about a month now without any of the issues in this thread .

I use the orange and yellow on my Delwalt rotary with HT Heavy Cut Leveler.

If they don't replace them, which I am sure Irene will, let me know and I'll send you a few of mine.

Wow, now that's what Autopia is all about. That is very generous of you, Anthony.

I have the black backed ones, and they seem to be holding up but they *are* extremely ugly and I don't care too much for their performance.
