Vandalized!

Some people at my school apparently thought it amusing to scratch the image of a certain human organ (I think you can guess which one) onto my trunk lid. At first I thought it was just in the dirt that was on the car but after a wash and wax there it was. It's very noticeable. I even used Meguiar's Deep Crystal Polish to no avail. A body shop said it would need to be wetsanded, and my question is will wetsanding need to be done on more than just the affected area? The car has numerous small scratches so would taking them off one area make it stand out from the rest of the car?

It sounds like they are just deep scratches in the clear coat, right?

I'd try something like Meg's Scratch X or 3M fine cut rubbing compound (I assume you are working by hand?)

I'm actually planning on having it done professionally since I'm not going to be paying...so would wet sanding be a good option?
