Van v.s. Trailer

i currentlet have a 2006 express. I am considering trading for a 2009 sierra and buying a trailer. What are the pros and cons owning a enclosed trailer?

I would personally like having a trailer instead of an all in 1 rig. Unless it was one of the new Ford Transit. You could just wheel your trailer into your client's vehicle w/o crowing up their driveway. Dream would be to have a Vette pulling a small matching trailer.

Think about your area. There is no way I could use a trailer where I live. Very confined spaces. Also, where are you gonna store it when you're not pulling it?

I love my skid that's in the bed of my truck. I can take it out by myself in 5 minutes.

I'm actually looking into a Transit but man, they are very expensive.........even for used.

I'm with Justin. Where we are, a truck with trailer would be a hassle. Plus, if you are out running errands and such and get a call, now you have to go back and hook up and then head out to the clients. I loved having my GMC Savana, but with our gas close to $6 gallon and the van getting 11mpg, it had to go. :(

agreed with Justin, I used to pull a trailer, and to many times i would be stuck somewhere barley getting out of some tight spots. Now I have a 2004 Express that I LOVE!

Not much room to work with there....

Tru, your van is so sweet!

Think about the extra wear and tear the weight of the trailer puts on your ride. Don't forget about the brake wear as well.

I've actually looked at Dodge Caravans. You can find them all day long for 4000.00 and they get 20-23mpg. Plenty of room too. More than a transit. Just vinyl wrap and you're done!

:bow Best van hands down :bow

Here is some pics of my setup. I've been using this effectively for 6 years now. Equipment wise, I have 900.00 in it. That's the pressure washer, hose, vac, and tank. Not the detailing supplies. I also have a hose reel but it was being rebuilt when I took the pics.

The ladder racks are for my glass cleaning business.

I started with a caravan . Those are cool , on the weekend you can even put the seats back in and its a passenger van again.

Thats a cool set up you have on that Ranger

the truth is Im tired of owning three vehicles. With my second child almost here Im considering either : work van and truck, truck (with trailer) and my vette or truck ( with trailer) and buying 70 chevelle!

I use a trailer which for the most part which is a pain because of all of the maneuvering particularly in neighborhoods with minimal space . I wanted to use a van but found the added cost a bit of a financial strain. Whenever I can afford it, I will get a van setup like TS.

And that's what I'm thinking about!

I have 3 kids and would love to be able to use my work vehicle for weekend family car as well. It's just that everyone here knows my little yellow Ranger in town.

I love our Dodge Caravan, although we use it for a different business (Courier) our van has some serious mileage (388K miles), no major problems. Easy to put in and take out seats, cheap to repair and perfect all around vehicle. We use it 5 days a week w/o the seats, and on the weekend we throw the rear seats in to make it in a 5 seater. The only problem I can see with you guys is that there is no permanent pressure washer or anything else(hose reel) that can be attached. 03-07 is the best years IMO, our canadian edition was only $20K new with DVD, tints, 6 speaker surround, roof rack, and reclining seats. The only downfall as of right now is a bit of rusting uniformly around the exterior (we never got it rust proofed) but other then that, it's all good mechanically.
