Vacuum of choice

I have read where removing the filter gives more suction power. Any truth to that? Can it damage the machine?

Yes, it can damage teh machine. A filter keeps the dirt out of the motor. Removing it can increase the air flow (CFM) and increase suction until such time as the motor burns out. I would not reccommend doing it.

Good stuff guys.

Anyone else have anything to add?

If you have a Jan/San Distributor near your house call them up. I have had good luck with a 15 Gallon Minuteman wet/dry. Full tool kit (hose, crevice tool, dust brush, floor tool, wet squeegee tool and wand). Nobles also makes a good unit.

I originally purchased it for a flood I had in the house, but since then (a few years at least) I use it for the cars.

It's a little big but it works well for the cars and the occasional disaster. If you need the exact model number PM me and i will look.

Using vac bags vs filter

I have recently switched to using the Shop vac bags rather than the filter. I seem to get more suction, less debris, and holds a ton of stuff. They cost the same as a filter, however you get three bags in an order.

Cheers,
GREG

I have a 5hp Ridgid that works great but I am looking for something a bit smaller with just as much if not more power.
