Vacuum carpets first?

There is no cure!
I always vacuum my interior first, before cleaning anything inside, like glass, dash, seats, ect.

Lately I've had to do a quick vacuum pass inside again because I keep bringing in dirt with my shoes everything I get inside again after that.

Interiors I do last except any carpets that might need to be scrubbed. If I need to scrub any carpet, I do it first so it can be drying.
Would some of those paper or plastic throw away mats be of any value to you?
 
I usually vacuum first, I grab my air gun and blast out/suck up whatever I can, then I move to other stuff. I usually do a second vac really quickly before I shampoo each section of carpet. Works well for me :)
 
I clean the car to start then do the carpets throw down a paper mat...then do the dressing...I want the least amount of getting in and out once the carpets are clean and drying
 
I usually vacuum dead last, as I will be getting in and out of the car and don't want to drag anything in with me. In the event I do, it gets vacuumed out at the end.
 
I do a vacuum first too. I think i like to do that because it is the fastest and makes the car look so much better and makes you feel good lol. Usually do a quick vacuum at the end too.
 
I vacuum first that way any loose dust that is not picked up does not land on a clean surface. At the end I do a quick vacuum to picjk up any lingering missed spots or stuff that may have settled after cleaning.
 
I wear flip flops when I detail and I just take them off when I get inside my car so no dirt is transfered.

Exactly! I do the carpets last because I'll be getting in and out, cleaning the dash and console, cleaning the seats, and all sorts of other things that could drag dirt into the car. There is no point in doing it more than once, so it is best to do it when there is the least amount of likelyhood that you'll mess it up.

This is just part of an effective process of detailing. It's like detailing the engine after you have already done the full exterior detail. Would you do something like that when you know you are going to have to wipe down the fenders and possibly have to redo the tire dressing after you washed the engine bay? There is a logical order to detailing that will help keep you from having to do the same work over again. It just takes some time to analyze your process and figure out the best way to do it for you. ;)

3 (vacuum)these are my steps sometimes, I go over dash again to remove any airborne particles that may of landed back on dash..
 
yes definately vacuuming before and after shampooing helps with an almost perfect end result, or an extractor if available to you but most people dont have one so a shop high power vac will do, just be sure to change the filter regularily .
