Using ZPC puerly as a base for Z5 (not for removing mars)

Hey guys, I'm gonna simplify the post and just spell out the combos I'm considering:

ZPC + Z5pro

ZPC + Z5pro (With ZFX)

ZPC + K-AIO + Z5pro

ZPC + K-AIO + Z5pro (With ZFX)

Assume these combos are on a clean slate with no prior Z1, ZFX, or ZAIO

Anything wrong with any of those applications? Any opinions or things I should know?

KAIO as a base will give excellent durability. Similar to Z1 or ZFX applied Z5PRO to an oil-free polished finish.

No, you can not use Z-PC as a bonding agent for Z2/5PRO.

Z1, ZFX, ZAIO or CS must be used for "proper" initial application (I'm sure someone will chime in a state that they have had great results using Z5PRO alone :wall ).

Hope this helps :wavey

Hey, thanks for the heads up! I'm not sure I totally understand your response. I'm not planning on using Z-PC as a bonding agent, such as ZFX. I'm going to polish with ZPC, and then hit the car with Z5pro. It'll be used as a base for the LSP.

As long as the Z5PRO is mixed with ZFX or Z1 is applied over the Z-PC polished finish you are okay.

System speaking, Z-PC or ZAIO prepped surface is the "best" base for Zaino.

I edited my post, which includes non-ZFXed Z5... please take another look

ZPC + Z5pro No bonding agent. - Z1 or ZFX required for maximal performance

ZPC + Z5pro (With ZFX) - Good

ZPC + K-AIO + Z5pro - Good

ZPC + K-AIO + Z5pro with ZFX - unless applying multiple coats ZFX is completely optional here.

Back to the Sebring Race. :wavey

Ahh, thank you sir ! :bow :bow :bow

Do you already have the ZPC?

Kaio is a good base to make sure the surface is clear of oils from previous polishes unless you use ZPC, but you still need ZFX.

ZAIO is a great product and a perfect base and you can use Z5 (1 coat) without ZFX.

If you want to do multiple layers of Z5, then you will need ZFX.

ZPC as a base without removing defects sounds like ZAIO....

:doh

Have you used ZAIO or even pre-VOC altered KAIO?

Both, with skill and pad knowledge (selection), will correct a wide-range of minor surface defects.

:tumblewee

The corrective ability of both those products are VERY minimal, and to claim otherwise is just a predisposed bias towards the product (any product that can lubricate a yellow LC pad will have "cut".)

I don't understand your post. Dude wants a product without corrective ability that other Zaino products bond to. Sounds like ZAIO by hand to me...

and yes...I have used both products

With a PC/white LC pad I can remove light marring/scuffs using ZAIO.

...before this thread heads elsewhere, what I'm trying to get at is this: I have ZPC and Z5pro, but do not have (nor want to spend the money) on ZAIO. Instead, I have KAIO. So, if I use ZPC, can I go strait to non-ZFXed Z5? Or should I throw on a coat of KAIO first, as by many estimates Z5pro works well on KAIO.

My guess is (since I have never used KAIO) you would be better doing:

ZPC

KAIO

Z5pro

You need Z1, ZFX,CS or ZAIO for proper bonding for the initial application of Z5/Z2PRO. As I mentioned before, KAIO will clean and add some protection to your finish. It will not prevent you from using Z5PRO on top of it (KAIO) but the Z5PRO will not be properly bonded to the surface for Zaino's well-known durability. The finish will look great but will not last as expected.

If you have ZAIO and your finish does not need polishing (defect removal) just hand apply or finishing pad apply the ZAIO and than apply a layer of Z5PRO.

If you need some defect removal, start with the ZAIO and a polishing pad. Use a cutting pad for heavier blemishes that may or may not be repaired by ZAIO. By staying with one mild product and searching out it's limitation for the job at hand, one will not only eliminate some work but also reduce the number of pads required (1 product/pad). Example: If you can eliminate a blemish using just ZAIO, you can proceed straight to applying the Z5PRO. If you need to use ZPC or any other slightly more abrasive polish, you will need to re-do the area with ZAIO or activate the Z5PRO (ZFX) or apply some Z1 or CS.

Bryan, didn't we trade for ZAIO a few weeks ago. Excuse me if my memory is wrong. 5 plus decades tends to make recent events fuzzy. ;)

If not, PM me. 16 oz of this stuff will last me for years. :cooleek:
