I am using a makita 9227 for more than a year now and still having problem controlling it

Yesterday I tried removing the handle and use it that way and have to say it really works!! Now I feel more control on the machine no wobbling or shaking, also I it seems that I get better result this way

Is there any one else using rotary like I do or I am the only one?

Is this bad way of using rotary or I am doing fine?

Can any one give me advice.....what are the pros and cons?

THANKS

Yep, both my PC and rotary handles have disappeared from my inventory. :up

Ditto with me. I use a Dewalt 849 though. For Polishing it's basically a users preference.

Add me to that list. I'll sometimes, very rarely, use the side handle on the Makita when doing the sides of some vehicles.

Tumbler - someone I know uses the method shown in your avatar and gets awesome results

I however can't do it that way. Also have a makita 9227 with the big handle on it which I use sometimes but most of the time I hold the belly of the machine which is 1-2 inches from the buff pad and it's really comfortable for me.

same here DeWalt here also with NO handle as i also use this machine for shampooing carpets too (with brush attachment)

Wow, that's original. I would've never had that idea. While I do use it as a grinder and for paint removal on panels.

Seems just to big of a tool to fit in down there, I do use my PC for that w/the appropriate brush.

I guess its all in how you were taught. I still use a handle but I was taught to use the edges of pads to remove morepolish at the end of my sections.

I too own a Makita 9227. Good choice. :2thumbs:

But I do use the handle to better control the Makita and it puts less pressure on my lower back. I usually squat like a sumo wrestler to get a better center of gravity. :getdown

Hi ranney, I also squat sometimes but am thinking of putting cars on my dad's hoist to do lower panels from now on.

No handles for me on either the PC or the rotary (Metabo) - just grip the head of the machine (lightly) and one on the body. In some cases, you can go one-handed and not worry about the handle knocking into something else.

This is what I achieved one fine day with the makita

The garage has been thoroughly cleaned since then

I'm a newbie with my Makita rotary. I've tried both handles with very little success. The other day I took the handle off and had good results. I still have a lot to learn, but it just felt like I had a lot more control of the rotary.

Cheers mate, never thought I would get feedback like that from autopia legends

Appreciate it.

Must take some more, I sealed the paint with KSG, FMJ x 1 and WG DGPS afterwards so to keep it that way
