i detailed a f350 and it was bad. i hit it with

ssr1 2 with a yellow pad @6 then

Light Cut, yellow pad @6 then

IP, Green pad @6 and it finally took most of the spider webbing off. i know not all smr's are supposed to do everything, but do any of you guys have to use multiple to get that swirl free finish.

Pics Coming Soon.........

I use multiple products. It begins with evaluating the surface to see how aggresive I have to start with. Analogous to sanding wood, where you keep moving up to a finer grade sandpaper until the finish is smooth and perfect.

Unfortunately not all SMR's are created equal and it's hit and miss until you learn how each product reacts.

I wish the manufacturers would agree on a rating system. Like motor oil...40 wgt is 40 wgt no matter which brand you use. That way you would know exactly how aggresive the product is. Megs has a rating system ... wish 3m and all others would join.

OK off the soap box now...

If what you are doing in your first cutting passes are not working, you need to either get more aggressive with your polish or pads. Just keep moving up until the product/pad selection is doing what is needed to clean up the paint. Once that is done, then move back down. Just trial and error mostly.
