Using degreaser on carpets

I work for Delta Sonic in the detail shop however i am only farmiliar with the products we use and what will damage what. The question I ask is it safe to use 50/50 or full concentrate degreaser on carpets to remove stains without the risk of fading or damaging the carpets? Thanks.
 
I do all the time with no ill effects. I'm sure it depends on what product you use so read the lable and do a test area first. But I've never had any problems with it.
 
ok cool thanks. Also we have a thermax at work however they are too expensive for me right now so what would be the best way to go about a carpet shampoo? i was thinking apply degreaser and srub with a brush and then rinse with water and vacuum up, repeat until no degreaser is left. Until we get a steady flow of customers a thermax wont be an option.
 
Skip on the thermax. We chucked 3 of them off the top of the balcony at my last shop LOL they really are junk extractors. Much better out there in the same ballpark or even cheaper.



As long as you have a good shop vac (6hp or higher) you shouldn't have any issues getting the carpets clean with the method you described.
 
ok cool, yea my partners dad has all that cool stuff, we even got an air compressor as well, small but enough air for a vinyl and engine detail.
 
Are you mobile or have a brick and motar location??? If you're mobile look into the Mytee lite. I personally use the mytee HP Grand prix 100. both are awesome machines and can be had for fairly cheap right now. Sales everywhere.
 
we are mobile as of now, the first few customers money will pay for the more important things such as what you mentioned. As of now we can only wash and wax, and a full interior cleaning, no paint correction yet until I take some classes or get the right tools. I know how to do the basics but things like wet sanding are out of my safe zone right now.
 
The best class in the world is hand on experience. my first day on the job (many years ago mind you) they put a wheel in my hand and said figure it out.. Get some test parts (local junkyard is perfect for a fender or hood or something) and go to town. People think it's hard to learn but it's really not. The only thing "classes" are going to teach you is how to buy their products their are hawking off.
 
I learned buffing in school and at work I watch all the time but im not allowed to buff because they have not offered for me to take the paint specialist class yet. but good call on the junkyard, ill have to look into that. as for now im heading to work, oh yay!....

Safe - probably.

Necessary - not unless you're using a pretty weak *concentrated* degreaser. Most concentrated degreasers that are mixed 5 or 10(or more) to 1 won't work better straight. You could be wasting product.
