Using a Lint/Sweater Shaver on interior?

So I have a 2001 VW Jetta with those "lovely" velour seats.



Along the lower bolsters and especially on the armrest the fabric is beginning to fray (ie, come loose, look shaggy), and on the armrest it's beginning to form little pills.



So I got to thinking. Either I can A) get new seats or seat covers like Katzkin or B) look for a way to "shave" down the pills and the fuzzy velour fabric...



I was thinking that maybe on of those lint/sweater shaver things would do a good job...



What do you all think? If not maybe someone can offer a better recommendation?

We bought a $9.99 Shaver at Target for exactly that situation! Worked quite well.

ah! i was wondering the same thing, on the type R volvo line most have "alacantra" (fake suede) inserts..my driver side is starting to pill



i will have to check this out!
